Thank you for making these videos, it is inspiring to listen to how different developers go through their journeys and have success. It helps my mentality, and keeps it from breaking up.
Living in Costa Rica, and trying to start as an indie solo dev, has been quite the ride for me. This profession is starting to rise here, and my traditional family thinks of it as something odd to work on. I'm giving it my 110% percent every day, and my first video game is now starting to take shape. Unfortunately, being unemployed, not able to find another job, with a wife and 2 kids, living off the little money my last job gave me after they fired me at the start of this year, has made it way more difficult than I thought it would be. But I'll never ever surrender, and I won't give up my dreams.
Both of you, Chris and Thomas, thank you! And to all those indie devs out there, YOU CAN DO IT!

firstly, I am new to your channel and have been going through a lot of your videos over the last few days. secondly, I admire you so much for being upfront and forthcoming with your faith and the journey that both of you are on. This touched my soul in a way that I am currently reeling in, due to a recent jobloss. The hurt I have from being let go and feeling like I have let myself, my family, and others down for the work I was doing and now nothing to show for, has made me rethink who I am as a person and what drives me to do what I do. My love for Jesus has been a central focus over the last four weeks and how I need to see my inheritance in Heaven, over the world I live in has changed my outlook. The way the two of you talked through those things made me so thankful for stumbling upon your channel. Thank you Thomas and Chris. If I don't see you IRL, I hope to someday see you in Heaven to say thank you.

You have no idea of what this podcast meant to me.
I was recently in a hard time, dueling some ideas. Long story short, I became a Christian 8 months ago after 20 years openly, but respectfully, being an atheist.
I always loved music, but I took a hiatus of 10 years. Which was when I started my game design graduation.
Recently I felt like going back to music, I spent an year re-learning piano and guitar on top of bass which is my favorite instrument.
I was in a deep conflict, because...to be honest I felt like Thomas, I wanted to be respected, but I didn't want the respect of...well unequally yoke people. I felt like I had to make a big leap to the music, classic music, join an orchestra or something.
I had some revelations when I open my digital bible, for the whole past week every random verse was about being a musician or aimed to musicians(Psalms 4, Psalms 77, Psalms 139) one after the other.
I was almost convicted I should drop from the gamedev industry, which I felt like there were only progressive liberal people, nothing against them, but as I said, they aren't the people I want to be with in this chapter of my journey.
It was by watching this video that I remembered a project I made back in 2018 about learning music theory(https://pigdev.itch.io/bard-lesson) which back when I launched was a huge success in terms of feedback.
I want to be with people like you guys, and thanks to this video I think I have clarity of the next steps on my journey.
Thank you so much!

I had massive amounts of respect for you Thomas merely on the merits of your skill and willingness to share your experiences and knowledge on game dev. After this interview I have even more respect for you, and now for Chris Skaggs as well. Being a Christian in the video game industry is a tumultuous thing because seemingly everyone is against you in one way or another. It's refreshing and encouraging to see others in this industry expressing their faith openly, thanks for making this video and for hosting this interview and thanks to Skaggs as well for being willing to share. Definitely encouraging stuff for a fledgling dev.
