Thank you for this message! I’m 28 and still learning how to embrace the cringe and be shameless about what work really pulls at my heart strings and brings me the most joy. You’ve always been an inspiration, so thank you for spreading such encouraging energy out into the universe. We are all better for it✨

At some point every game dev had no experience, they just started doing it! Video game creation is such a good example of a hobby you can commercialise. As long as you get into it from a place of passion, and not just chasing cash, there’s so much you can do by yourself or as part of a larger studio.

Thanks for the insights Thomas. Great Video as usual. Still new in my game dev journey, and so far it's doing well. Even my devlogs are doing fine and the channel is gaining momentum. Got a lot of tips from you and other game devs who share thier experience. Thanks a lot for sharing your experience to us newbies. 😊🙏

I've wanted to make my own games since I was in high school but I was always afraid of what people would think of them. I've made some prototypes and even participate in a game jam but I've never had enough confidence to take an idea all the way. Eventually, I decided working in the games industry was good enough so now I work as a producer at a small indie studio but I still have the urge to make something I'm truly passionate about. This short video really resonated with me and has inspired me to give it an honest shot this time. Thanks Thomas, keep doing what you're doing.

My personal story starts when I was a kid. Always playing games (which came to bite me in the ass later so I stopped). There was also that Nickelodeon show, Game Shakers, about some kids "making" games.
Around that time I tried Roblox dev, did not even think that it was gamedev. Fast forward, 2019 got my pc. Started playing Fortnite, and the game that changed my life both ways, Ark Survival Evolved. I used to watch the game and thought it was amazing, still do. So later in the year, started Unity Gamedev.
My main phylosophy was:
There is a tutorial for everything so why learn coding
Matter of fact I didn't even know you can learn coding or idk what it was.
So that failed.
Fast forward to 2022, I got onto self improvement, and started considering the financial side of it. So I was like programming, and then it clicked.
Gamedev.
At the time I had a weird view of it, thinking I will learn it and then make games, wtf was wrong with me, but anyways.
I started learning C# for Unity.
I did it for like 3 months and then,
I started "learning"
I met a person who is also a Gamedev, and he suggested I don't do the braindead thing I was going to.
January the 20th 2023, after getting with some friends, started our gamedev studio. And now, im 13.
In conclusion:
Any dumbass like me can start, but not everyone can stay and not quit.

Wow Thomas! You really have come so far! I remember the first time I watched Jacksepticeye play Pinstripe, and I instantly wanted to learn game development. So I started learning C# and watched way to many Brakeys tutorials. But this was about 6 years ago, where am I now? Well, I totally lost all interest in game dev, and went back to just playing games. I tried getting back into it a few times, but it never resulted in anything good. In fact, I had only made 1 game at that point, and it was pretty bad. But one day, I was watching some YouTube, and I saw a little game called Once upon a Coma, and I was instantly hooked. When I found out it was made by the same person who made the game that motivated me to begin game dev, I knew I had to try this game. Then I saw Jacksepticeye play it, and WOW, I couldn't stop thinking about it. So all that to say, thank you for everything, I've been watching your channel ever since, and continue to learn. I am now working on a huge project that has come so far. Thank you again :)

What an inspirational video. Thanks for sharing your journey and not being embarrassed or ashamed with how you started. I think every great Dev has similar stories. Your anxiety and other issues was perhaps a blessing in disguise. You managed to hone your current skillset and transform this into what you needed for later on in life. I've recently started learning UE5 and wished I hadn't put this off for so long. I was warned that it was way too difficult and had a steep learning curve. Using Blueprints it's not that hard. I'm from the era of the Atari and Amstrad CPC6128. lol. I never dreamed of being able to do what I do now. Thanks for the advice and much needed inspiration. Just need to quit my current day job and be able to do this full time. All the best for the future. Cheers from Australia.
