I have a hypothesis about the manosphere though. It's not that these men don't know women other than instagram models exist, it's just that the only kind of women they're interested in; women who other people would agree it's "impressive" that you had sex with or dated or whatever. Because it's all about status, it has nothing to do with human connection, or even just enjoyment. It's all about some game of dominance among like-minded men. And they can't help but project this status centric view of human interaction onto everyone else, including the women they pursue. Or, that's my hypothesis about the manosphere anyway.

This reminds me so much of that ex who seemed like a normal guy in the beginning and then came the batshit theories like "men can't help themselves, when they're denied sex for too long they are hardwired to rape" or "if there were completely realistic sex robots no man would ever do anything ever again because men only do stuff to get sex". The cognitive dissonance though...I asked if he got his degree just to obtain sex, answer: No, but it's true for "men in general". In the end I told him it's better for both of us if he waits for those realistic sex robots and I go date someone else.

wanting to date someone who is financially-conscious =/= wanting someone else to pay for everything. my ex would constantly ask to borrow money from me because he just spent a big portion of his paycheck on instruments or other items without even thinking about his budget or his rent. looking at my mother's relationship with my father, im sure as hell not about to babysit a man.
