This is the equivalent of spending hours customizing and theorycrafting a character instead of actually playing the game.

On reddit you see the same posts every week saying something like ''it isn't worth it to work anymore in the US''. But almost no incentive for direct action at all. It's just a place where unsatisfied salaried people go to wallow in their slacktivism. They get a slight rush from looking at stuff that ''opposes the system'', watch a netflix episode, and go to bed. Rinse and repeat.

One of my favorite things Contrapoints has brought up is the concept of ā€œpolitical ideationā€ that a lot of online leftists will threaten Revolution but never actually engage in on the ground organizing or action.

The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago line, yes. We mustnā€™t let despair rob us of a future of forests. Thanks for so much unrecognized support to our mental health as well. Love from the desert to you and yours.

Hasan is who originally pushed me to read theory once I read theory I joined local political organizing groups and weā€™ve done a lot to change our immediate areaā€¦ I know a lot of people who focus on online politics and donā€™t do anything outside of that but I hope to see more leftists get actively engaged in creating/joining organizers in their areaā€¦

An Indian here, Ambedkarā€™s work is still in use after about 70 years of independence. People have pictures of him hung up on the wall and he is prayed to like a God would be. Thank you for your work ā¤

Its the diffirence between being an advocate and an activist. Both have important roles. If there were no advocates for one side of the political spectrum then the other side would dominate the entertainment sphere and disseminate their information to casual viewers without opposition. Keeping ideas in the mind of the general public can be a boon to generate inerest in change. Activists are engaging with the political system dirrectly to make a change to it. The thing is that this can take a long time and is often not glamorous. So it can end up being invisable to the general public. As long as advocates dont pretend that they are activists then I think the situation is alright.

is anyone else tired of the meta bread tube videos lately? i appreciate the effort in this video and the arguments posed but I'm so stuck if hearing everyone's opinions on video essayists vs debaters and the"effect" their content has on action i don't think it matters, i think if the content is inspiring us and getting each of us to talk and think differently, even on a tiny level and I'm tired of talking about whether what we talk about is actually making the revolution come sooner, especially if we don't have new things or nuances really liked the ending and recommendations for where to go next

i feel morally sufficient only watching these videos on a regular basis and feeling guilty and then going about my regular american life. any confession i make is in making a comment, and any penance is in watching more Breadtube. it is like Sunday Mass for me, and this is the bread. amen.

ā€œThe revolution wonā€™t be live-streamed. Watch my new stream tho.ā€ šŸ˜‚ Making a difference is so easy, you just have to scale it. If youā€™re one person, you can affect at least one other person in a positive way. Go outside and make some new connections, be a force for good in your own life.

"there will still be lead in our water unless we do something about the pipe" is true, but what i feel the role of influencer politics in this case is, actually making people realize that there is lead in the water, cant quite commit to action if the populus doesnt realize there is action ti be done
