The French army, confident and well-prepared with over 30,000 troops, faced a smaller, sick, and exhausted English force of 6,000 in the Battle of Agincourt. The historical significance of the longbow, tracing its origins to the Battle of Hastings, played a crucial role in English victories at Crecy and Poitiers. The Battle of Agincourt in 1415 saw Henry V's disciplined English forces, though outnumbered, utilizing longbowmen effectively to achieve a decisive victory, solidifying the longbow's reputation as a formidable weapon.

Great documentary. I had to pause and rewatch a bunch of times because of the absolute magnitude of middle age combat and the results. Very humbling

My friend who makes custom bows crafted an English longbow from an associations specs. I'm 6'3" and 300 pounds. I couldn't pull it back. Those English fellas must have trained constantly to be able to use that bow.

Cressy, Agincourt, Waterloo, and Trafalgar were all major victories when heavily outnumbered

Many (as in thousands) of English died of dysentery before and after the battle. Henry himself likely did as well. The story of Agincourt is not just about the longbow but also about disease.

6,000 English against 30,000 French sounds like the French are out numbered to me.

Old documentaries like this always have something wrong. One obvious thing here--they portray the archers as firing randomly into the air, when in reality, they aimed directly at their targets.
