King Henry V of England led around 6,000 men into a significant battle against a French force of approximately 30,000 near the village of Agincourt during the Hundred Years War. The battle was fought on a wet and plowed field, where English longbowmen played a crucial role, leading to a remarkable English victory with around 10,000 French casualties compared to less than 300 English losses.

I find it interesting that many of the battlefields of this campaign were again battlefield during WWII.

I'm never reading comments before I watch again. There's always somthing wrong or some other obscure detail that isn't quite right. These videos are old and what we learn about history is always changing according to new reaserch. Still interesting to watch.

Sends a chill up your spine when you realize that Agincourt, Balaclava (The Charge of the Light Brigade) and The Battle Off Samar all happened on October 25th. The day of Glory!

Not sure it's the right niche but if anyone's interested in hardcore Late Medieval English and French warfare I strongly recommend Schwerpunkt's videos series

I never heard that the Marshallā€™s original plan was that of ā€˜scorched earthā€™. In fact, we have a diagram of his original battle plan, in which, a charge up the gut was held back, while cavalry were sent up the wings toward the two groups of archers to scatter them. And this was probably a good plan. Funny thing is, everyone says that Henry advanced his lines 50 paces to goad the French into charging. But because the battlefield looked like an ā€˜8ā€™, moving the line up 50 paces put him at the narrowest part of the ā€˜8ā€™, which would have the obvious effect of cutting off an avenue for that flanking attack. There were sharpened steaks remember. So perhaps they decided to go up the gut at that point, because what else? Anyways, there are lots of theories about why the French lost. And Iā€™m sure they all have some weight. But overall, my opinion is that the English won because they were a force of professional soldiers who had done plenty of fighting together as a unit. The French were a conglomerate. Iā€™m from Canada, and I know from experience that in an international tournament, the time to beat Canada at the game of hockey is within the first two games. This is because the Canadian team is also a conglomerate of players that donā€™t usually play together. As the tournament moves on, game after game, you can watch the team gel tighter and tighter, until ā€˜hive mindā€™ becomes more of a factor. At that point they are very hard to beat. The English were very hard to beat because they possessed the quality of ā€˜hive mindā€™ throughout their ranks.

Uploading an old documentary, with outdated information, is understandable. Playing commercials every 5 minutes is not. This is too intrusive to enjoy.

English are tough fighters

The English archers shot directly at the enemy, and at very close range, it's why they were so effective. If they'd shot up into the air, like in this video, they wouldn't have caused much damage at all.

3 days to cross the channel? šŸ˜‚ and no one is noticing the twist? Of course, if you spend a couple days visiting family in Norway,it will take that long
