As someone who's moved on from success on YouTube I can say 100% that burnout is real and it's SO EASY to start hating making videos, even when they were so fun and worked so well in the beginning. Definitely don't feel bad about taking time away or retiring completely, just make sure you're honest with yourself! It's easy to let that monthly check sway your perception on what's best for you. As long as you believe in whatever choice you're making, it's the right one. Stay or go, you've made an impact and that'll never change!

I hope the "2 weeks is all I need" thing remains true for you. I'm a little older than you are and had a similar experience where I thought all I needed was a vacation, some time off. Take held things at bay for a couple of years, as I chained vacations every ~8 months. The truth is though, we're reaching mid-life and there's tons of crisis level thoughts and concerns churning through our minds. The work we're doing suddenly seems - whether consciously or not - like it isn't actually all that important in the grand scheme of things. The "why" is suddenly more important than ever, and many of us don't have a good answer for it. Good luck bud, appreciate you being honest about this issue. The other possibility is that its related to COVID and being infected 3 times has run its course on my brain and left me utterly destroyed from a mental health + motivation perspective. Totally possible!

Escape velocity would be nice. I guess for myself, something even better than that would be, to be able to make whatever videos I want, and not worry about the strategic ways to try to say things for retention, and not worry about video ideas that will convince people to click, but I think you need escape-velocity level success to achieve that, or just simply not be too interested in using youtube for an external purpose, but purely just love making videos, which, as much as I love making videos, I can't say I love it enough to just do it without hoping I can send people somewhere else and fund my own work eventually.
