This cloth of silk bright red bears no shade to the blood you bled This crown I wear not heavier than your lifeless figure, cold, dead The power I wield cannot bring you back to life You left me alone suffering, in agony, despair and strife Why my love? Was this your plan, to leave me and be in peace? My influence is vast yet it cannot even reach deaths domain A chance to sacrifice all of my entirety I shall offer without a doubt If it means to release you from deaths grasp My emperor, my god, my love Why did you abandon me? I could sacrifice thousands for you Yet you chose death and dishonor rather than have me stained with sin Sinner of sinners I could be as long as we're together But my dear, you chose to sacrifice it all for me But now, it all meaningless without you I sit here above yet I cannot reach you any further Your presence still embraces my lonely shell I am not blind yet now I cannot see what I wanted to have Rest easy my love, soon we shall be reunited This life isn't worth living if you're not with me I shall enter with confidence and a smile on deaths door In the afterlife we shall be together again, forevermore

It's so beautiful and sad. I think all chinese music sounds like a tragic story. Please, if you like the chinese aesthetic, then make playlists with it more often. I love every playlist of yours, sometimes i just don't have the words to comment on how beautiful it is 😭💞

She is beautiful. She is powerful. Her heart is guarded, and it has been wounded once again. She stands at the edge of a precipice, but her people need her. She wants to let go of everything, but she cannot. She has to go on. The pain is tearing her soul apart, but the people count on her. She is a nationnal treasure, she is a precious gem, shining with a red glow. Determined and brave she is... How can she keep standing strong? She is the queen. She just does. She has to.

Ah, I'm early. I enjoy being introduced to other cultures' music so much! I've quite liked the other chinese instrumental playlists, and the arabian nights playlist was lovely too.

She had fought many warriors in her youth. She watched the rising and fallings of her kingdom from her humble throne, unable to do a single thing as an immortal. She was a pillar of hope in her nation, a beauty, a one of a kind and so much more. Beloved by all, men and women, children and old. In her first 17 years of living, she was a warrior in her kingdom's army. Valiant and kind but ruthless on the battle field. And on that said battlefield, she met her. A powerful, hostile, and very beautiful female general of the opposing kingdom. The two clashed constantly, their forces evenly matched. Neither one could ever fully push the other close to death without they themselves being on the brink as well. For many, many years they fought, and throughout those years, they found love in eachother. The two wanted nothing more than to run away from this life and live a peaceful one. Her love decided enough was enough, and committed treason against her own kind to live beside her. But the curse of immortality would mean that she would be forced to watch the love of her life and her people fall to the hands of others. And now she was the empress of a beautiful and peaceful kingdom, That no longer exists.

I love Chinese instruments; there's so much soul in each note, with no need of lyrics to tell a rich and consuming story. Frankly, I just wish I'd had this when I was binge-reading Yona of the Dawn; it would have suited that perfectly.

I used this video countless of times whilst reading 'Daughter of the Moon Goddess' by Sue Lynn Tan. Her writing was so beautiful and was brought off the page with the music. I think words and music go so well together. I would definitely suggest this playlist if you read the book. Every moment just seemed perfect and so was the book! My greatest thanks for this!♡

Timestamps with main points for myself for a storyyy: ------ 0:00 - 0:36 Story's Intro 0:37 Setting The Play: Two prominent pieces on the board; a humble empire nestled in the lush and sun grey, misty ranges of a mountain bowl, and another placed far to the East, land of sun and summer wind. 4:11 The Palace, Her Majesty, and the Land of the East: A grand palace that basks in sun, blanketed in stars by night. Each soul holds the other in the heart, joining hands and pushing as the splashes of a stream, to pass spirit on. 9:57 The Empress: Such beauty there was in the land that the dark could not plant itself. It fled to the corners of the most obscure places, afflicting her majesty's heart. Still, all her chambers remained filled with wood chamber song. Aspirations and sweet tuning kept the life alight of the days soothing. 13:26 Arrival of The Hour: The slow, dreadful rising of life's reminiscence- and rue. Lord's adversary had arrived in no haste, with sword, and neat plating, with scars, and little else in saying. All her moments meld and mesh, an amalgamation of bittersweet turmoil, no words to speak what was felt or what went. Only a sea of juxtaposition, feeling and numbing, and the prolonged, watchful silence. 15:56 The Emperor: His wooden flute, their orchestra, and a granted finality. In a state of utter dire, a melody sings into the night as the group of strangers permit a last encore of a moving dream. 19:03 The Empress: Her revelation and a final wish come true. A moment of eternity in true freedom before death. Petals from above fall, and this world slows as the mind wanders away, forgetting her penalty. 21:07 A Return: The moment flitters away, only lasting for so long. But the newfound beauty is strong despite the scene, imprinting on her heart and his, so she returns. And the world again churns. 23:28 The Truth: It is hard. Deeply so. The wound bleeds, as the thought surfaces. Such a kind man, to slay the manic lover and attempt to spare the empress of an undeserved death, unknowing of the love's poison that was wrenching away her conscience. She is caught before the fall, and there is no more to this scene. 25:12 Unknown home: A new set is laid. She is unaware, far lost within the fog of a poisoned body. In a foreign land, she is no one, her people she held dear and they as well, in return. But she is an empress nonetheless. Strength is a hope to be kept alight. 27:18 The Wait: Neither eyes awaken, body still and weighted. But the tightening on the soul lessens, and the heart moves and her ears do listen by the ongoing days, to the whispering of attendants and maids and passer-by's. Of this, what she hears most profoundly are the words of a lovely script, and a deep voice. The crinkling of pages trail, and if lucky, the song of a flute made of wood thereafter. 30:19 Promising Day: Perhaps she had asked for a small ensemble, because at once there was light, revived life, music... and a careful hand, both careful and caring behind the drapes of an unchanging exterior. There was no need to rise, it was more than enough. But every day, season by season, she did. Blue'ed brambles regained their color and youth to at last flower and bloom. There was much stumbling. More than one could count. And many musical days and nights of quiet reading, in solitude, but never lonely or alone. She would fall and the emperor would sweep the current in a manner of a graced crescent eagle to reverse the descent and its ails. Company was so desperately sought, though the notion was never uttered or faced by either. 32:54 Shared Revelation: -- Tldr: Two kingdoms have ruled peacefully until the reign of the newly-crowned Eastern Emperor and his betrothed (& arranged) empress. His majesty mishandled his citizens' well-being and is abusive to the Empress. A tyrant now reigns. Her Majesty takes solace in caring for her people, roaming the gardens, & summoning small orchestral ensembles to listen to or play along with. Word spreads, the Emperor of the South upholds the truce & slays the tyrant. He grants her majesty a final wish to hear music, and they play. He wishes to spare her, but she faints to her fiancé' poison (stabbed) prior. She awakes in the foreign land of the South, but is in a semi-conscious coma. After healing after the passing of many seasons, His majesty helps her, and though they don't speak much, they bond. Over time, this bond turns to love, and the rest is history.

People in the comments got motivated to read, write and study while I get the feeling that I'm the heart broken girl from Chinese ancient times. When I was at the mansion, waiting for my husband, the general to come home after a big war. It was the day they come back and I was so excited to see him after parting for a year. I ran to the front door as his troop came into our mansion but they all looked so down and sad. I asked them as I search for him, "where's the general?" and then I found out he gave his life to protect the emperor.

Edit: (Ha... this is one actually about two of my characters). Soft. Oh, so soft. So gentle, so sweet, so calming was the touch of the creature at her side. His face, covered in angry red markings and hiding a sly smirk as he kissed up her arm. His lips twisted as he whispered sweet nothings up into her ear, the words slithering like a viper and feeling just as poisonous. She raised a hand up, one decorated with ruby rings and golden bands. Her cream-colored fingers touched his fiery hair, the color her favorite and yet the most despised one in her heart. She watched quietly, her golden hues staring with amusement, as the red locks slid between her fingers, each one softer than the last. However, as his hair slipped between her grasp, she slowly sat up, letting it fall out of her hands and back onto the comfortable fur blanket around them. She let one hand remain behind her, helping her to stabilize her body in that moment. She let her other hand splay itself across the bed, her red painted fingertips catching the edges of the fur, staining them a deep crimson as well. Ah... that was not paint, now, was it? No. It was blood. Blood of one of her jewels lying beside her bed. He was dead, his hands missing and most likely somewhere in the room. She shed a small glance towards the body before looking at her lover of the hour... her advisor. He stared back up at her, his black sclera and red pupils blown wide with ecstasy. Of course, he was not her lover by choice... no, he never had been. He was the one who dragged her into this, who made her who she was. "... leave me. Clean this mess... I am tired Respin..." Her voice was soft, holding an edge of a desperate tone. She wanted him gone for now. Perhaps he had some way of influencing her that she just had not figured out yet. He was an excellent tactician, a man with a silver tongue, and one who knew exactly how to destroy an enemy from the inside out. Her body flinched involuntarily as she felt the bed shift. A hand wormed its way up her back, black claws lightly dragging themselves up and leaving soft red scratches behind. That same hand made its way into her golden locks, pulling on them slightly and forcing her to turn her head back to him. "Of course, Your Majesty... I could never disobey your words my loving queen..." The breath she was holding escaped her lips, a frigid chill brushed across the edges of her body as he moved swiftly off the bed. He gave her one of his smiles... the kind that always made her stomach twist up into knots. If it was not for him... if he had never done this to her... she was happy! She had been! The youngest daughter of the Hearts' Empire. The sweetest one, the most beloved... she had four elder sisters... each fighting for the crown in their own way, but she was left alone... for she was too young to inherit it... but the people adored her... and they clamored for her to be the next empress. Her sisters, jealous and stuck in misery, plotted against her. And... and Respin... he came to her... he whispered sweet words in her ear... he promised her everything if she did as he said. 'Kill them,' she could remember his voice, so tantalizing sweet like the juice of a ripe peach, 'You belong there... they hold no love for you... you know that... you know they hate you... kill them... destroy them... if you do not do it... then they will do the same to you... you could have everything... everything you have ever wanted...' And like Eve ate the apple from the snake, so did she do as he commanded. With him by her side, it was over in a matter of weeks. No more was the sweet girl, the gentle one, the angelic one... no... she was bloody... she was bathed in the crimson wreckage of her family. But... it did not end there. She was in love. Oh! Oh, how she had been in love! A man... a commoner... the one she adored and the one she had loved since she was but a child. She took him. She took him as her husband, she made him king. She ignored Respin's desire to be by her side and took the man she had adored since young. However, the man did not love her in return. No, it was a marriage of force... one that the empress was too blind to see that she was causing the pain. But, out of this marriage came her two joys in life, her twin boys... and yet... even this peace was taken from her. Respin weaseled his way in again, fed her lies... told her that her husband was unfaithful. He swore on his life that he had seen him with another woman, a maid. She wanted to believe the best... but for once, the fox's lies turned out to be true. Broken hearted, emotionally destroyed, and on the last edge of sanity... she killed her husband just as she killed her past family. Oh, but she could never hurt her sons! Oh never! They were her prized possessions. Lonely, stuck in grief, and constantly searching for affection... Respin convinced her to take on a harem... one full of men who would never deny her... lest they be slaughtered in return. She accepted this advice and thus stole men from their wives, taking them for her own. The world turned on her then, with Respin always by her side, a hand always on her shoulder, always whispering sweet words into her ears. "Alicina... do not despair... he was but a fool who disobeyed... you know you had to do it... otherwise, where would his loyalty have gone? To another woman? Oh Alicina..." Poor Alicina. Poor little girl. Poor little mother. Poor little wife. Poor little empress. The empress of blood. The empress of malice. The empress of nothing. That's what she was... just the empress of nothing. She was but a puppet for Respin's pleasure... for his own enjoyment of misery and suffering. And she knew this. She knew it well. And yet, he still turned her head and pulled her strings. Her head slowly brought itself to rest in her hands, her breathing turning heavy as her chest heaved back and forth. Tears leaked from her eyes, slipping down her hands and falling onto the fur below, churning the soft red colors into a muddied dark brown. "Poor Alicina! Poor woman! That's what I want them to say when I die! Oh, wretched Alicina! Oh, so FOOLISH ALICINA! So foolish! So... so foolish..."
