Requiem for a Dream was the movie that sparked my interest in film direction and editing, so glad you covered this! Would love to see more of your breakdowns of this movie. All the techniques used were so avant-garde and outside-the-box at the time. It would be hard for anyone watching it for the first time today to understand just how different this movie felt when it first came out in year 2000.
Also, don't do drugs.

As much as I love Requiem, and think it's (and probably will be Aronovsky's best work), I have only seen it once, and don't plan on rewatching. The movie left burn wounds in my head that even over a decade after seeing it, some of those scenes haven't left me. I loved the editing pace and franticness though. This scene's lack of symmetry in the splits always made me wonder if it was to show how mother and son were in two different places, emotionally, though both have their separate addicitions.
