She was demonstrably the superior orator & superior intellectual in this brief but enlightening debate. Here we are in 2022 & guess who's still around!? Only this powerful Woman! He's long been relegated back to obscurity - a nobody! I'm 56 and in Australia and guess who I've always known of - ever since I was a small child!? Yes - Buffy St Marie. I'd NEVER heard of him till I found this segment whilst nostagically browsing Buffy's music. She and the fundamental principles she represents will remain firmly seared in my memories and heart all my life. Which is more than can be said of the Loser she firmly smacked down in this segment. I loved it, thanks for posting this.

Yeah, she's right. The originals were taking care of themselves long before the Anglo Saxons arrived.

I have listened to her music starting back in the 60’s, and always loved her music. You notice in this interview she refers to herself as a native North American, not Canadian or American.

This was during Buffy's part-time stint on the "Sesame Street" cast.

Needless to say, this guy's career was a one-termer and this bill went nowhere.

I am indigenous from canada and reflect the same feelings that many feel about bluffy but......everything she said here is amazingly accurate and intelligent. I dont know if everyone is aware but in 1969, trudeau and chretian tried to abolish native rights in canada inthe same way. I applaud bluffy for her words and activism for native rights and condemn her for lying to ro the same people. We should be celebrating those indigenous people who have and do fight for our rights.

"Treaties are not rights from the government to Indians; treaties represent a grant of rights from Indian people to the government which need to be upheld". Awesome! this needed to be on bumper stickers, on coffee mugs; still does!
