Considering what has just come to light, so many statements in this conversation are deliciously ironic. No history, "set the record straight", a green light for creating our own image, "I started playing FAKE Tchaikovsky", "sitting with one's truth", "No, it wasn't hard to re-live" (the trauma she never actually lived), "respect for the TRUTH", "without being exploitive", "I want to see you as a REAL person", everybody's got to have a gimmick, "a gap I didn't know existed",...too rich!

From the CBC story this week about her: "In March 1982, she signed a marriage certificate making her union with Hollywood composer Jack Nitzsche official. On the certificate, obtained from the County of Los Angeles, Sainte-Marie certified that she was born on Feb. 20, 1941, in Massachusetts to Albert and Winifred St. Marie."

Here's some past tweets that I found from someone on Twitter who had some interesting questions about this book.
Pt1
"I read Andrea Warner's bio on Buffy, and I had some questions regarding her adoption. Why didn’t Warner explore more of Buffy’s biological relations on Piapot? How did her adopted parents happen to be in southern Sask in the 40s and come to adopt Buffy from a Cree family"?

pt2
"Didn’t Buffy ask questions about her biological parents and the exact location where her adopted parents adopted her? Has Buffy explored the possibility of DNA tests to find her biological relatives on the Piapot Rez or Saskatchewan"?

OMG did Buffy just say that she actually doesn't have those degrees from the university of Massachusetts that she has said soooooo many times she has? Can she not keep ANY story straight. In this interview she says she was top 10 in her class and had straight As but "they didn't let me graduate" because of one missing credit! Andrea: "people just create the scenario that they wish had existed" (well said Andrea!!!)

I'm so happy that I watched this video. I sorta grew/grew up listening to Buffy Ste Marie' music/story telling in the 60s. Then I met Buffy in Wisconsin when she was on tour in Aug. 2016. We had a few moments of sharing. I didn't know about the book. I will order it tomorrow from my local alternative book store. Thank you all so much.

Ironic when she can't even be truthful about her own story.
