When I was a teen I would volunteer over the summer at a historical graveyard/ pioneer home. This hurts my soul. You should never use highly abrasive chemicals or cleaning tools on gravestones. Most gravestone materials are very porous making them easier to carve into many forms. All we ever used were scalpels to carefully remove moss/lichen, firm bristled toothbrush, and a mild nonionic detergent. We did use a power washer but only when needed otherwise we just used regular hose for rinsing

NO CHEMICALS. NO ABRASIVES. For one.
I forget. Look it up.
I hope they looked up how to clean those stones first.
I looked it up after my mom passed away and got buried in same yard as my grandparents. Seemed kinda like work. I mean, I didn't want to ruin anything and it's 40 miles away with no car

She's literally damaging each stone with chemicals and abrasive materials, further degrading their integrity with each attempt. May as well be using a belt sander.
