The fact that half the people in this country think earthquakes happen because "god is mad at us" tells you all you need to know about Murica.

Literally the day before a 7.4 earthquake hit Taiwan, killed 10 people and stranded dozens more. This is basically nothing compared to that

I live in NJ, that earthquake hit me way harder. I was about a mile away from the center of it. All of my shit started falling off the shelves. I genuinely thought the ceiling was gonna cave in and that the building was going to fall over. Mostly due to the shitty 100 year old architecture, though. Earthquake alone probably wasn't that bad for most people. Actually had after shock in the middle of typing this comment, what are the odds.

We felt it in Philly. Our office is in the basement and it felt/sounded like a big truck was driving over the first floor.

I hate how embarrassing ppl in NY are acting. I live next to the subway station. I legit thought maybe it was just the train being extra annoying today. It wasn’t that bad.

Was doing stuff in Manhattan today, instinctively thought “it’s the train” but I was on 5th floor. Freaked me out

I remember there was an earthquake on the east coast back in the summer of 2011, it’s crazy that another one happened 13 years later

I've had farts that measured higher on the Richter scale 😂😂

The Richter Scale works at 10x scale so 2 is 10 times more than 1, 3 is 10x more than 2, and so on so when you get to the 5.5-6 area it starts to get a little worrisome.

I felt it in Philly the same magnitude as nyc. It just felt like a wind gust on the house. People dramatic

Chris Christie did this to spite the teacher’s union.

Some people are totally overreacting, it was just a little stronger than when a large truck rattles things. Unexpected, but not worth the fuss people are making. However it is true that on the East coast the waves will spread farther than they do on the west coast. We have less faults on the east coast so the waves spread farther where on the West coast the many faults absorb some of the energy so they don’t spread as far. So more people get to be overly dramatic about our wimpy earthquakes.
