I listen to Melanieโ€™s music since Iโ€™m 6. I discovered Melanie because I was a gacha kid and I used to watch A LOT of tag youโ€™re it videos. I started to Stan her songs, they made me so much better. I related to her songs a lot, and I slowly became a fan of her. Now Iโ€™m 11, Iโ€™m still stanning her, and she inspired me in writing songs. I love her so much even tho Iโ€™m nobody, she helped me so much throughout sadness.

Hello! Here are some fun facts and explanation about the song's that are shown on this playlist. Hope u all enjoy! 1. "Dollhouse" is the debut single by Melanie Martinez, featured as the first track on her namesake debut extended play, Dollhouse. It is also included as the second track on her debut album, Cry Baby and her extended play, Pity Party. This song also can be used to describe how people view celebrities. In an interview, Melanie said, "People put them in glass boxes and think they are perfect and when something happens that shows when they are humans, people don't like that." 2. "Pacify Her" (originally titled "Pacifier") is a song by Melanie Martinez featured as the eleventh track on her debut album, Cry Baby. Cry Baby no longer cares whether she's with a guy, but she gets rid of a girl who's with a guy for fun. Cry Baby is set on trying to free the boy from the grip of his girlfriend, even though she doesnโ€™t really love the boy herself. She uses a play on words in the title, it can be heard as "pacifier", which is a rubber object used to silence a crying infant. 3. "Mad Hatter" is a song by Melanie Martinez featured as the thirteenth track on her debut album, Cry Baby. It is the final track on the standard version of the album. Melanie said that "Mad Hatter" is about being okay with who you are. In this song, Cry Baby is fully accepting herself and doesn't care what other people think of her. The song is the closing chapter of the story because Cry Baby embraces the chaos inside of her, refusing to hide it regardless of what the world thinks, representing her character development throughout the album. 4. "Mrs. Potato Head" is a song by Melanie Martinez featured as the twelfth track on her debut album, Cry Baby. This song deals with plastic surgery, its consequences, the struggle for beauty in the modern world itself, and people who succumb to these pressures. Melanie also explained in an interview that Cry Baby was becoming more confident in her skin, and she is beginning to form her own individual opinions. 5. "Soap" is a song by Melanie Martinez featured as the sixth track on her debut album, Cry Baby. Melanie stated that "Soap" is about being vulnerable and being afraid to express deeper feelings such as love, so it feels like 'washing your mouth out with soap', a technique used in older days where adults used to wash with soap the mouth of a child who would say obscenities. 6. "Teacher's Pet" is a song by Melanie Martinez that is featured as the eleventh track on her sophomore album, K-12. The song speaks on pedophilia, grooming, and inappropriate teacher-student relationships. Story-wise, it is about Cry Baby's best friend Angelita having a sexual relationship with their Biology Teacher. She wishes to have a serious relationship with him, however, he only uses her for sexual gratification. 7. "Class Fight" is a song by Melanie Martinez that is featured as the second track on her sophomore album, K-12. The song is about Cry Baby's jealousy of Kelly's relationship with Brandon as Cry Baby has a crush on him. Thematically, the song may be about how women are constantly put against each other, specifically in the music industry. 8. "Detention" is a song by Melanie Martinez that is featured as the tenth track on their sophomore album, K-12. The song refers to the feeling of suppression and vulnerability while being in the public eye and having to put up a perfect image even if you are not alright. The place "detention" refers to being in the music industry, as many artists feel as though they have to present perfectly in order to not be criticized. 9. "The Bakery" is the seventh and final track by Melanie Martinez that is featured on her fourth extended play (EP), After School. The Bakery is a song about unenthusiastically working at a bakery in high school because I needed to make money to invest into my art and my music. - Melanie Martinez (In an instagram post) 10. "Copy Cat" is a stand-alone single by Melanie Martinez featuring Tierra Whack. It was released on February 10th, 2020. It was originally intended to be featured on her fourth extended play (EP), After School, but was cut from the final track list. The song is about people in the music industry who are unoriginal and copy other people in hopes of succeeding, which most of the time ends up working. 11. "Fire Drill" (also registered as "Credits Song") is a song by Melanie Martinez that was released as a stand-alone single on June 26th, 2020. It was intended to be on Melanie's fourth extended play (EP), After School, however, it was later scrapped. The song focuses on the matter of fake friends, childhood bullies, and attention-seeking people. Timothy Heller, who accused Melanie of rape in December 2017, may have inspired certain lyrics. Since the accusations, Timothy has been accused of controversial behaviors such as attention-seeking, speaking on behalf of other musical artists, and stretching the truth on social media after accusing Melanie. 12. "Teddy Bear" is a song by Melanie Martinez that is featured as the fifteenth track on the deluxe version of her debut album, Cry Baby. The song tells the story of a child (who may be Cry Baby), presumably a little girl. After the child got a living, talking teddy bear, whom she loved, she was very happy, until the toy begins to act strangely. She begins to lose hope in her bear, and sheโ€™s unsure if she should trust him anymore, although she is not scared. As the song goes on, the more dangerous and insane the toy becomes. The child becomes terrified after realizing the severity of the situation. The story is likely a metaphor for domestic violence, with the teddy bear representing an abusive partner.
