Something I love (and find funny) about Super Paper Mario is that Luigi is literally the deciding factor of whether good or evil wins.
Dementio even says that the Dark Prognosticus says that Luigi is the ideal host for the power of the Chaos Heart. Dementio also says the line, "How could I have lost with the power of Luigi and the Chaos Heart?" (The power of Luigi.) And I'm pretty sure Merlon says something about "the man in green" being the thing that will help decide whether the Light or Dark Prognosticus comes true.
Talk about finally realizing the importance of Luigi since he could've been the actual downfall of every dimension.

Can we talk about how Ghost T died? A poison mushroom accidentally got added to his plate of food in the dining car and it killed him. Sounds a lot like finding out a new food allergy and the ending being bad. Or in another little bit of fridge horror imagine the same thing happening in real life. A poisonous mushroom accidentally gets picked and ends up in the supermarket, or on your plate in a restaurant. People aren't perfect and accidents happen...

12:27 that scared the heck out of me out as a kid. I though they were just dead. Hearing that you can save them gives me a weird sense of closure lol.

You missed the dysfunctional rich family with the toad author in the west side in TTYD. Why dysfunctional? The wife of the toad author is addicted to gambling and neglects feeding her kid to go gamble at the parlor all day. The depressed Toad author also seemingly ignores or neglects his kid in order to write a book. Goombella even mentions the mother in the parlor spending too much time in the parlor instead of her kid lol. So in this one family we have Gambling addiction, child neglect/abuse, depression from the author and loneliness coming from the kid. Thousand year door was great but wild.

The shadow queen and her purple speech box/black candles freaked me out as a kid. But it was done it such an ingenious way that it wasn’t too frightening for a little kid while it also instilled some fear and urgency to give meaning to the final fight… and all to give you 2 star points after defeating her

18:32 Luigi's adventure might actually be a reference to a Japanese legend, the story of Susano'o and Orochi. (It's also one of the beginning story arcs of the video game Okami.) Sasano'o is the brother to the goddess Amaterasu, however he got banished for reasons I won't get into in this comment, you just need to know he was traversing through the mortal realm for awhile. So our protagonist Susano'o came across this family, who are forced to sacrifice one of their daughters to Yamata no Orochi. Orochi is an 8 headed serpent, similar to the two headed snake Luigi fought on his adventure. Susano'o takes pity on the family and decides to kill Orochi. Susano'o disguises the daughter as a comb and hides her in his hair. Some say he cross dressed, others say he just waltzed right up to Orochi, either way, he made the serpent get absolutely smashed on alcohol and killed it. He also got a sword out of the serpent's tail, which he gave to Amaterasu as an apology gift, unbanishing him. Susano'o might not have made Orochi kill itself Ouroboros style like Luigi did, but there is a clear inspiration from the old tale.

Super Paper Mario was the first paper mario game I played as a kid and I was so surprised how much story the game had and how well that story was written. I fell in love with the game especially after I finished it so imagine my surprise when I went online to see if everyone loved it as much as I did and so many people were shitting on it lol. To this day I'll never understand the hate this game got, it's more revered now thankfully but back then I hardly saw anything positive about it. Although, I can admit that at that point I had never played the other two and all anyoned did was compare them so I suppose I was a bit biased towards SPM but its such a good game!

I showed TTYD to my friend for the first time recently and he thought that Mario’s wave was the Nazi salute. It’s was pretty funny actually. On top of the noose in the middle of town and heads on spikes and the gang war, there was also that. It was a very interesting Mario experience for him indeed!

And here’s a handful of Dark Aspects that didn’t make the cut: 1. In the N64 game, there’s “Toad Town Underground News'” that can be found scribbled on the back of the Toad Town notice board--it’s updated with every chapter that passes! One anonymous Toad writes: “Did you hear the gossip about Princess Peach? I can't write it down here because it's unbelievable!♥♥♥”. There’s also this message later: “We'll send you beautiful photos of Princess Peach. To inquire about this special offer, please send a letter to the following address: Toad Town Post Office P.O. Box 7144 Secret Toad We will accept no complaints or returned goods." 2. In the Japanese version of the original, there’s this Chuck Quizmo question: "What best describes the relationship between Mario and Luigi? 1) Lovers 2) Friends 3) Brothers". In the English version, "Lovers" was changed to "Neighbors" for obvious reasons 3. “Cherbils” in the game are creatures who are literally shaped like butts. Because of this, O’Chunks mentions his wanting to spank Mario & gang like “naughty little Cherbils”. When describing where they shoot harmful gas, Tippi even gets flustered! More seriously, The Super Mario Wiki brings up a theory that they may be a nod to the city of Chernobyl, Ukraine- victim of a 1980’s nuclear disaster that caused poison clouds to loom over its skies for months 4. When the Cragnons are brainwashed the player can defeat them like any other enemy. Doing so will result in a haunting moan and a reduction of points that allow you to level up 5. In the Super Paper Mario arc of the Super Mario-kun manga, Mr. L takes a Pure Heart and rubs it on his bare booty to taunt Mario 😆 this scene was even translated into English for the Super Mario Manga Mania collection! See it as part of my review of the book here: https://youtu.be/hLNvl0f5v14
