Thank you Stich, for all that you do! Youā€™re one of the few Internet guitar instructors that have been able to help me progress. Ironically I also watch Sean Daniels. Youā€™re both quirky and unique in your teaching styles. I found both of you individually and then figured out that you know each other. There are literally thousands of online guitar teachers and two of my very favorites know each other!?!

I am always amazed how you can explain something I've asked other "How & Why?" so many times and gotten some long winded explanation that lost me. I watch your stuff and I am going. " Why the hell didn't anyone else ever say it this way?" Thanks again!!

Along time ago an instructor showed me a fun fact about ear ā€œtrainingā€. He played a note and had me sing that note . I was to keep singing that note, but when he moved a semitone higher or lower, my voice would ā€œfollowā€ my ear and it was near impossible to stay on the original note. This is a confidence building exercise for your ear. Thanks for posting

Hi Stich, this is a great lesson. You show how to find notes by ear! I think the technology of guitar tuners certainly changed things. I started playing guitar in 1965 where we used a tuning fork to tune a string then tune the rest to each other, then we would put a record on once again learning by ear. I tell students to spend time with tech but also spent time training your ear, thanks for all your great lessonsā€¦

I used this video and your chord tone video to REALLY take a big step forward in my playing. It happens glacially, but then BAM! Thanks again, as always. Iā€™ve missed your videos as of late.

Thank you for taking the time to "spell it out" for us. I've noodled around a bit with playing the singing melodies to songs but had no road map to help guide me along the way. This lesson just introduced a very logical way to approach this facet. Right on!!

I love this! I played piano for a few years, but I've been into guitar because of it's portability and beauty. I've always been STUMPED about how people play chords and melodies at the same time coming from a pianist brain. This makes complete sense now! Thank you so much!

STITCH! I haven't had the time to take a moment and thank you for all of the work you've done and do for the guitar playing community. For real I was told by someone about 3 years ago " the song sucks and I don't want to play it." Now granted I wrote it lyrics and music and I had never taken a lesson or even understood the caged system I was a chef and I played guitar. At that point I was no longer a chef and my guitar and music is what I had as a rock to keep me grounded and strong all the good things that music does it saves lives. I decided that day to learn how to "play guitar" from scratch actually watch a lesson and practice until proficient. The caged system all the 5 shapes of the pentatonics 3 notes perstrong scales circle of fifths (in the shallow end but I understand theoretically and practically basics of it.) You were the first YouTube guitar teacher sage awesome mellow dude I stumbled on You're master classes and the basic lessons are AWESOME!! if not for you STITCH and the rest of the guitar education community giving so much of their time to help others play guitar better. THANK YOU! You're channel has been invaluable to me. PS my music nor my guitar playing doesn't "suck" with many hours practicing your lessons. Have an awesome day šŸ¤ŸšŸ¼

Love your Dave Matthews impersonation lol! Thanks Stich, you're not boring at all! This is interesting stuff, and needed, if a person wants to learn melodies.

Mr Stich, in my humble opinion, you are the best guitar teacher on YouTube. You have a very special ability to communicate esoteric guitar playing information, theory and philosophy, in an easy to understand, affable manner . Great lesson, generally I can find the key in a few seconds and normally I would have departed at that point in the lesson thinking I was already familiar with the material being covered but for the reasons I stated above I decided to watch the rest of the lesson and found I had learned something by the end. Thanks!!!!!
