I agree. I let my fingers DANCE with the beat and it doesn’t matter what precise optimum notes I’m playing. Finger dancing. It’s all about beat and rhythm. You have to let yourself go though. That’s hard for some to get use to but it’s so much more enjoyable. The beat and rhythm is what gives you the ideas for phrases and variations.

Your lessons are always to-the-point and actionable. I have learned so much from each of them and I thank you. I've got to say this, however - your solo here is absolutely sweet, enjoyable, tasty, and in-the-pocket! I've asked non-musicians to listen to this, and they wanted to know what the name of the song was and where they could download it. :) I can't think of many guitar tutorials that are pleasurable to a non-musician, but you've proven that it can be done. Thank you once again for making beautiful guitar sounds achievable for those of us who put in the effort.

Great advice! Sometimes I hit a tone either too soon or late but I’ll hang on it (sustain) what feels to be an uncomfortably long time and I wait for the song to catch up to me before I finish off the phrase. It feels off beat but works, very cool. You just have to have the confidence to hang there. Playing by ear in a set framework like pentatonic scale is fun.

I credit you with being able to go from being good at open chords and barre chords to playing lead freely thinking more about what I want to “say” rather than the notes I want to play. Started watching your channel a year ago and it made a huge difference in my life. No anxiety playing live anymore. Thank you so much, buddy. What you do is important!
