That moment where Mr. Beast claims a mountain in Antarctica is so ridiculous because all the mountains in Antarctica ALREADY HAVE NAMES! I'm not smart enough to identify the specific mountain from the video, but if Mr. Beast & his crew were able to climb it, then it's definitely been climbed before. It's like if I climbed Mt. Everest & said "I now declare this the Walmart Peak," like?? NO, that's not how it works! I know his videos are meant for a young audience, but come on dude! Antarctica isn't a free-for-all billboard. I'm about to sound like an old man yelling at clouds, but I'm glad I grew up watching actual documentaries about Antarctica instead of having my baby brain scrambled by Mr. Beast.

I'm a primary teacher. Seeing kids argue over prime, use prime as a bragging tool / insulting tool, bragging about how much their parents spent on prime on facebook. Hell, even one kid brought in multiple bottles to show off into one of my classes ??? Like IDK how to explain to them that they're being exploited

Using tumblr as my main social media for years now has really skewed my view of advertising because it's so easy to forget that this kinda shit is happening when the most famous user to take a brand deal on tumblr was essentially bullied off the site. With about seven ad-blockers on firefox and an extension that skips sponsorships on YouTube, I so rarely actually see an ad anymore and wow, I did not realise how genuinely dystopian we've gotten.

the segment about the prime thumbnails- while very funny- DID make me think about how youtube thumbnails and the hyper-capitalized culture that goes along with them will be talked about in the future when put into context with the rest of art history. we don't think much of it now because its so ingrained with how we live, it's not even really thought of as art, but it is art- it is art the same way that billboard ads for coca cola in the 1950s are art. it makes me so eager to go into the future and talk to someone who's seen the movement play out and into the next one.

I feel so disturbed after watching this. The way advertisement is so embedded in everything these days is honestly chilling. Everything feels like it's trying to sell you something. And people like logan Paul benefit off of it. Someone who has done so many questionable things has people flocking to shops for some mediocre drink and profits off of them. I need to lie down. This was a great video.
