The supergroup "Emerson, Lake & Palmer" is one of most successful rock bands in the subgenre of the Progressive rock. The band members Keith Emerson (keyboards), Greg Lake (bass guitar) and Carl Palmer (drums) showed their musical virtuosity in interpretations of classical pieces like "Pictures of an Exhibiton" by Russian composer Modest Mussorgski. The live album with the same title, which was issued as a low-priced record in 1970, helped the band to enormous popularity in Europe and USA. The song "Knife-Edge" from their debut album "Emerson, Lake & Palmer" is loosely based on Leoš Janáček "Sinfonietta" (1926). And the middle section of the song features parts of Johann Sebastian Bachs "First French Suite in D minor" (known as Bach Works Catalogue No. 812). Ironically both composers were not named on the original album release in 1970 ...

This makes me want to yell, "What happened to all the great music???" It's 2020, I'm 60 years old, and I have to go back to the 70's to hear great music. 😩😩😩

Man! These guys burned white hot for a good chunk of time. It’s amazing the amount and the caliber of music they produced. Long live Emerson, Lake and Palmer.

I am 57 years old and I can say definitively I have a much greater appreciation for Emerson’s composition as well as Lake’s lyrics than I did as a teenager when I saw them in Cincinnati.

Keith Emmerson had such an unnerving talent for mixing scales & time signatures together with such speed and accuracy, and somehow play them against each other to create something very distinct. People may be able to preform his music, but they cant play with the passion that Keith generated, and Keith will always be listened too as the plagiarists die away,
