This series acts as a living proof of how a drummer can change the whole feeling of an entire song. And every drummer has a new universe to show through her/his playing. Jake is such a beast, a great drummer.

Huge respect for Gojira. You should get Mario on next.

Mad respect to this drummer. He is rarely asked to play drum parts as complex as Gojira. You can hear the basics of what Mario does in this drummer’s parts that he’s figuring out on the fly. Just goes to show what it means to be a professional, regularly performing, musician. Great work! Filling Mario’s seat is nye impossible for 98% of drummers! Oh, and get Mario on to do some funk!

The fact that he doesn’t play metal or anything remotely metal nor have a clue as to who Gojira are - he did an amazing job. Credit to him for having the guts to put himself out of his comfort zone - really impressed. 🤘👏👏🤘

Any drummer that gets a Gojira song is thrown to the wolves. Since he's not usually playing a super technical genre either, laying a drum track to a song that features one of the most revered and skilled drummers in the world is an insane task. Well done!

Huge Gojira fan here and I have to say this dude did a very respectable take on this song. Just goes to show the level that all professional drummers are at, and their ability to learn and adapt to different styles.

Dude this is maybe the most challenging one of these I’ve ever seen. This dude got thrown to the wolves and held his own and I respect the HELL out him and his ability. Mario is other worldly, and this dude got closer than most ever will.

The immediate respect for Mario once hearing the actual song is awesome! Dude played some cool parts in there too though!

I saw Gojira a couple years ago and it was damn near a spiritual experience. Hearing Flying Whales live was like being hit with a wall of sound. What a band.

I don't know this drummer but he's a total beast. To play that good a Gojira song on a second take is insane, what a pro

Massive respect to Jake. This has truly been incredible to watch. Jake, if you're reading this, you're one hell of a musician. The way you played that part in take 2 was amazing for just a second try. Great video, was fun to watch and see Jake's response to Mario. Such a humble guy.

I've never been into drums before, can't play any instrument... but I'm OBSESSED with this series! It's so fun! I love seeing how everyone puts their own spin on each song

That outro section in the second take was incredible. Played like it was indented to. Such a incredible rendition.

His fills were like bullet fire, I love that for a metal track, he nailed most of it with authority

Damn, he really kicks it up a gear in the second half of the final take, I was thinking he was a bit stuck on the hi and snare for a while but then he starts throwing in some tasty stuff. Great job Jake!

Really felt like he got comfortable at 8:30. Once he got that song confidence, he just let it rip and had so much fun. This one was a great one to watch!

What I find so fascinating is that he absolutely nailed the backbeat groove. In fact in all of these, the drummer nearly always gets the basic groove right, even if the details are different.
