Re 12:44, if you are up to make it, I would watch the hell out of a 12-part series diving into the beauty of individual runs. I bet a lot of us here would đ

At 12:40 : "There's probably enough material in each of these runs to talk about for a long time. But,then this overview video would turn into a ten-part series. And I'm not sure anybody would want to watch that."
Well that's exactly why we're here mate :)

These single-level runs are certainly interesting, because the lack of Grenade or Rocket Launchers in most of them means new, never-seen, flashy strategies come up.
I'm particularly interested about how they handle (original) E2M6 and E3M7 Nightmare. I tried them myself, and had to use a Shambler boost to beat the former, and it took me over 10 minutes to beat the latter because of the lack of ammo (and I wasn't even trying to 100%, mind you, that was for a regular run).

There's a good point to be made about long versions of runs. Ultimately speedrunning is done because it's fun to see what can be done with a game, so even if a category seems arbitrary it can contribute to the core appeal of completing games quickly, by allowing runners to optimise a part of the game that they woudn't normally play.
After all, the fastest way through Quake is to skip the whole game by not playing at all (and no one wants that)

Hell yes. Would love it if you can start uploading in 60 fps. The movement is so insanely fast in these runs that the higher framerate would really allow for us to appreciate it fully. I know some runners upload to youtube in either 48 fps or 60 fps. And some only do at 30. But all of the demos are downloadable, and it might be worthwhile to run the demos back in your own sourceport of choice so you can screen record at a 60 or higher framerate. I really think it would go a long way to improving the quality of these replays. Loving the analysis, keep up the great work.
