A LOT of these were from the later part of 1988, or recorded in 1988, and charted or were big in the clubs in 1989. As a DJ who was playing tunes around town through high school graduation in June '88, most of these tracks were songs I got exposed to during college Freshman year. Funny how the milestone of graduation and going off to college compartmentalized music (FOR ME) into the 80s ending that summer of 88 and most of these songs being filed as '90s or at least 80's90s-transition -- I just don't think of the music from college being 80s.
Correspondingly, Nirvana/Grunge and U2/Achtung Baby really defined the Start of 90s music for me.
So, yeah, this is that changeover period.
