This needs to be on the forefront of awareness in the medical and mental health communities.
Problem is its such a touchy subject for some because people assume it's trying to demonize parents.
I personally myself see a lot of dissociative disorders are also related to childhood trauma and stressors from environment.
But unfortunately the way in which we get treated can make you worse mentally and even physically. Especially in the mental health field because positive focus and thinking is used out of fear that negative emotions will grow if people feel them/express them.
What's more is they fail to see how a repetitive cycle of some behavior that appears negative is actually not the genuine expression of that person; it's often a coping mechanism. Behind that cycle can be pain and some serious distress.
But again... people think the right approach is to force positive thinking on the person rather than root out what's causing the problem.

So my back turned bad and I had back surgery. Failed. Back much worse 7 years later. Need surgery again even tho I know it will not work. The pain is too much. I stopped living after surgery. Stopped driving. Stopped focusing on my dreams. Just gave up. People take care of me even though I can do most myself.
childhood for this as well? I would love to live again
