I have often neglected doing formal cardio. I have resolved to change that, and since I own a C2 rower, I have started to row 5000 meters several times a week. This is my current personal best time. I hope to be more consistent and improve it in the future. Seize the day!
Some of my calisthenics circuit workouts burn a lot of calories. My traditional bodybuilding workouts seem to burn less (probably because I rest longer and prefer antagonistic exercises rather than circuits.) The two types of workouts mixed together during the week have yielded some of my best results. The photos below are of the calories burned and average HRs during a couple of my calisthenic circuits. The first photo is (I think!) the result of the deck of cards workout I posted on my channel. (Which was my first recent video and I didnāt realize the viewer couldnāt read my watch when I showed it to the camera. That video also shows my body fat level when I started my cut in January. I take my shirt off in the video. It is ugly viewing. You are warned. The workout itself, however, is good.)
Soccer was my favourite sport when I was a child. We didnāt have smart phones to distract us. There were three channels on the TV that had an antenna that wouldnāt always cooperate with us, so we played outside a lot. Things have changed for young people today.
I mentioned that my primary form of cardio is rucking (or walking). Perhaps that is because when I was in the Canadian Armed Forces Reserve, I did quite a bit of rucking. I joined voluntarily because my grandfather was a British Royal Marine during WW2. Here he is on the far right during what looks to be a stout in Africa (where he was stationed before returning to Europe for the D Day invasion - which he survived. Like him, I too enjoy a beer or three. Cheers, Grandad!
Another cruise selfie. It was the second day of the cruise, so I was still in reasonable shape. I sometimes gain a pound a day on a cruise. Thatās a surplus of about 3500 calories a day! Beer and limitless food (including pizza) is too tempting for me to pass up. Itās a lot of work to lose the weight after, but itās worth it to me.
I like working out, but I love to cruise. Here are a couple of photos from some of my recent adventures. The first photo was taken on a recent cruise to Hawaii. The second was taken on a Mediterranean cruise.
Today was a good day. I got over 20 000 steps. Quite a few of those were during my upper body workout (between the sets). I like to walk while Iām recovering. Thatās my tip of the day. Now go get some!
This was my old channel 12 years ago. I changed my email and the account has been dormant for a long time. I like some of the videos I made, but I am less proud of others. Such is life. I had my CSCS certification back then, but I have not renewed it since it expired. Cheers!
@swarnercscs I am you 12 years older!
Over 50 Workout and weight management motivation. This is what I do to try to slow age-related muscle loss and stay ālean enough.ā I enjoy calisthenics, weighted calisthenics, dumbbells and kettlebells. My message is to find a type of exercise that you enjoy and get active today. Carpe diem!
