From 220lb (fat powerlifter) to 200lb (lean hybrid athlete) the goal has always been to put myself in the best position to be successful at a given sport. Iā€™ve done many challenges from bodybuilding (yes actually competed in a show) to professional fighting it all comes with a price. You must be willing to take on those sacrifices in order to truly receive the rewards from it. As a coach and athlete Iā€™ve been able to take my experiences and use them to my advantage.

So my lesson here is to say if your gonna do something GO ALL IN even if it means you have to sacrifice some leisurely things along the way.

2. Heart Rate Power Output: Observe a lower heart rate at a given level of output. During sparring rounds, aim for a decrease of approximately 5 bpm per week.

3. Lactate Clearance: This refers to the ability to sustain and repeat bouts of moderate-to-high intensity for longer durations. Aim to increase the number of rounds by 1ā€“3 each week.

4. Heart Rate Variability (HRV): Strive to improve HRV by 2ā€“3 points, indicating better parasympathetic response and recoverability.

These metrics can be tested and re-evaluated weekly to track progress, maintain consistent improvement, and minimize the risk of non-functional overreaching or overtraining (OT).
