Scheduling Your Training Days:
Based on your limiters, we want to prioritize the work that needs the most improvement earlier in the day. If you're a martial artist who has reached a level of skill that now relies on enhancing physical qualities, focus on resistance training first in the day.
On the other hand, if you are physically strong and have achieved a high level of athleticism but need to develop technical efficiency and skill for the particular art, then prioritizing that training first is imperative.
Generally, skill-based training should be done in the mid to late morning, while strength and conditioning are best performed in the late afternoon. This is due to increases in core temperature, which can improve muscle function, strength, and power, as well as enhance enzyme activity involved in energy production. Additionally, a higher central nervous system response, lower cortisol levels, and improved fatigue management contribute to better performance later in the day.
Ultimately, it's all subjective, so plan your days based on your schedule. Consistency and adherence are paramount, so make sure that whatever you choose leads you down the right path of consistency.
