Here is my second Yin Yang video, this time using yoga blocks. Again, the first half is the more energetic Yang section, and the second half sees us slow down to longer holds and deeper stretches. You may like to pause the video during the second section to hold the poses for longer...building up to 2-3 minutes per pose depending on your body and how much time you have.
Enjoy!

Hello everyone! You may have already seen my latest video which is Yin Yang Yoga and wonder what that is all about. Yin and Yang come from Chinese philosophy so what does that have to do with yoga which originates in India?? Well yin and yang represent opposites that occur naturally in nature. For example, Yang is considered hot and active , while yin is cool and passive. A Yin Yang yoga class is divided into two parts, with a stronger, active section to heat up the body and work more on muscular strength, and a gentler and slower section with deeper stretches held for a longer time which work more on the connective tissues and joints. Personally, I like to do the strong (yang) section first because it warms up the body and enables you to get deeper into the (yin) stretches later. I also think having the yin section second leads more naturally into the savasana (relaxation) part of the class.
What do you think? Let me know in the comments section below.
Hope you enjoy this video.I have another Yin Yang yoga video coming out on Friday, a shorter session this time, and using yoga blocks.
Bye for now!

🌕 DON'T MISS THIS ON WEDNESDAY NIGHT!!!!! 🌕
This month’s full moon will look bigger, brighter and redder than usual. It is the Flower Supermoon.

To celebrate this, I am releasing my new Moon Yoga Sequence video at 2pm UK time tomorrow, although you can watch and do it any time you like! It would be wonderful to have thousands of people all doing it tomorrow night while the full moon lights up the sky. ..See the link to the video below, which will be available only after 2pm tomorrow...

Those of you who are in Australia and parts of the west Americas are also going to be treated to the rare occurrence of both a supermoon AND a total lunar eclipse both on the same night! Most of North and South America will be able to see the eclipse in the early morning hours while eastern Asia and Australia will see it in the evening. Unfortunately those of us in the UK, Europe and other parts of the world will not be able to see the lunar eclipse, but we will still get to see the lovely Supermoon full moon.

On average, supermoons are about 7% bigger and about 15% brighter than a typical full Moon. This month's Flower Supermoon will be the largest full moon of 2021!

Don't miss it!! 🌕

Now that Spring is here, the layers of clothing are starting to come off, people are starting to go out more, and lots of people are looking to lose some weight. Many people have put on weight for many reasons during lock-down...boredom, stress, lack of routine, perhaps ill health.

If you are wondering; CAN YOGA HELP WITH WEIGHT LOSS? ...Then the answer is YES it can!! With yoga you use your body weight to do the poses, which can help strengthen and tone muscles. Often this takes the body into positions we don't normally do in day to day life and this adaptation will get you into better overall shape. Most yoga poses are whole body poses and use most of the body's muscles to support and balance you.

Can yoga help to reduce BELLY FAT?? According to studies the answer is also YES!! There are a lot of different factors that go into how to lose belly fat, including your nutrition, workout intensity, and your stress levels. In yoga, the body weight is used to provide resistance to strengthen the muscles - muscles burn more calories than fat. So the more muscle you have, the more calories you body will burn. This will burn calories all over the body though, and not just in the belly area However, stress has also been linked to the accumulation of fat specifically on the belly, even in people who are otherwise slim, so the stress busting effects of yoga (and meditation) can help with specifically reducing belly fat too.

Try my Fat Burning Yoga for Weight Loss video (link shown below) which is suitable for beginners.
I also have a weight loss meditation you may like to try: https://youtu.be/07iQNojKu2M

If you interested in the diet I follow, check out my Instagram site:
www.instagram.com/ketowithjuliawylie/

Here I regularly post low-carb meals which keep me healthy and never hungry. I eat moderate amounts of protein, lots and lots of low-carb vegetables, and lots of healthy fats. (Any diet that leaves you feeling hungry is tortuous and unsustainable in my opinion!) By the way, since I'm on the topic, by the word "diet", I do not mean the kind of diet that you do for a few weeks to lose weight and then go back to your normal way of eating, but a way of eating, or a way of life.

Let me know what you think!!
Namaste 🙏

Here's a gentle stretch routine to wind down for the evenings after work, or just before bedtime to help you sleep better. No complicated poses here, just some lovely gentle stretches.During the class, Lucy (the cavapoochon) kindly brought me her favourite toy, a quite chewed up monkey!
Enjoy the video, and I hope you have a good nights sleep.
