the chorus of the song is everything. the build up, the melody change, the lyrics... it's like that moment when all of the memories and nostalgia of all those moments come together and u feel connected to the whole universe, and then it all slips away, but that glimpse into the eternity was just enough - long as you run, i couldn't give u up.

[Verse 1]
Standin’ on the corner I could listen to the radio
When the savior sang from the fire escape on the second floor
You were always sayin’ we would make it to the catacombs
In the end it came when you wrote my name on the bathroom stall
[Bridge]
If the photograph doesn’t bring you back
If the final chapter isn’t ever after
Ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh
[Verse 2]
I remember wakin’ up the neighbor like a stadium
Yeah he ran upstairs screamin’ no one cared
And the band played on
Even in the limo you were feelin’ like an animal
At the traffic light where you blew your mind on a mobile phone
[Pre-Chorus]
Day and night my love you said the blood was on my hands
[Chorus]
Long as you run
I couldn't give you up
Forever run
I couldn't give you up
[Bridge]
In the minivan with your headphones in
Did you write your letters to your shitty friends?
And all this time, you said to me, “My love would never die”
[Chorus]
Long as you run
I couldn't give you up
Forever run
I couldn't give you up (And the daylight in my eyes)
Long as you run (And the silence on the street)
I couldn't give you up (And the low light in my head)
Forever run (And I was incomplete)
I couldn't give you up (And the daylight in my eyes)
Long as you run (And the silence on the street)
I couldn't give you up (And the low light in my head)
Gone, no goodbye (And I was incomplete)
I couldn't give you up

This song speaks to the heart. Life often feels like a failure to so many of us for not being able to obtain our dreams. But the greatest success to be found in life is the ability to dream itself and the reward is in the journey ever as much as it is in the destination. Never be afraid to dream big dreams. And never be afraid to fail. And never give up chasing after what you love.

"If the final chapter isn't ever after..." 💔💔💔
-Ours wasn't my love. But I'll never give you up. I'll always remember driving around blasting Gloria as I sucked down water bottles full of vodka. I finally gave it up. I just wish you were here to see me, 😥. RIP Jay. The Lumineers will always sing the soundtrack to our love. 🧡🧡🧡

The nostalgia is crazy. To think i went to Ramsey High School and had jeremys mother as a pre school teacher when i was a tiny little kid and where we all are now in life is wild. Seeing this music video gave me crazy feelings. The craziest years and memories of my life took place in that building. Wild. Love this song too. Always awesome jams from the lumineers.

That's my highschool! I wore those band uniforms, played on that stage, walked those halls, drove past the fish place, biked behind that shopping center, lived down the street from the school, spent most recess periods in that woodworking classroom. And the kid in the car on the left with the beard is my friend. Was a nice trip down memory lane.
Thanks, from Virginia.

I lost the girl I thought I was going to marry in a tragic accident seven years ago this last August (has it really been that long?) She had a very kind heart, the kindest heart, and an incredible talent for music. I will never forget picking the chords for Rex's Blues while she sang, her voice, the honey gold light streaming in the window, I can't separate the senses in my memory now. She also danced ballet, so this video was profoundly touching to me. It's a sunny Tuesday afternoon with honey gold light streaming in my window and I broke down the moment I saw those slippers. I don't really know why I'm writing this. I miss you very much Angie. Chained upon the face of time Feelin' full of foolish rhyme Ain't no dark til something shines I'm bound to leave this dark behind
