What a deep song!
This song juxtaposes two thought patterns: Pattern A and Pattern B. These patterns reflect the song's structure, which is roughly: Intro A A B B A B B Outro.
A is the "Holy Hell" section. It expresses Pattern A: The thinker deliberates whether and how to continue the relationship.
B is the "It's Over" section. It expresses Pattern B: The thinker mostly accepts that the relationship is over, and that deliberation is futile.
The Outro ends with Pattern B's refrain. It thus suggests that Pattern B wins over Pattern A.
Perhaps Patterns A and B embody the thoughts of two different persons, like Kimiko and her manager. But perhaps they embody the conflicting thoughts of a single person, such as the manager himself.
The music video more clearly expresses the latter interpretation. Kimiko's manager has found great success and great unhappiness. Maybe he misses Kimiko, but in a deeply ambivalent way.
But there's a deeper interpretation. The relationship in question isn't an interpersonal, romantic one. It's instead the relationship between an artist and their art.
The manager misses the artistic freedom of anonymity. Instead of making music, he's trapped making commercials. He's unsure whether and how he can return to anonymity. But he must ultimately accept that his anonymity "is over".
This story may reflect Mr. Lew himself. Maybe he misses being less well-known, before "Loretta" blew up---a time of less pressure and more artistic freedom. Indeed, the video's end shows relics of Mr. Lew's past projects. We see, for example, the red keyboard from Mahjong Room , the model boat from "Le Château", and the maneki-neko from City Slicker's cab.
Just a thought.

Mr. Root, you are one of the most charismatic and inspiring artistic personas that I have come across with, lately. I cannot wait to see the evolution of your vision and concept as you have been building such a consistent path over the last years. I cannot wait to see you live as well, but I guess you won´t be playing on this side of the pond soon. And yes, the algorithm brought me here, too. Youtube was right when it “thought” that I would fancy some “Loretta”, after having been digging Tatsuro Yamashita, City Pop and AOR, for some months. Thank you, from Portugal!

i cannot wrap my head around this production. the amount of scene changes, costume changes, props (custom branding !!!), editing, actors; it’s crazy how much work is put into this that i will never see. on top of that this banger song is playing over everything. i absolutely cannot wait for the new upcoming music. keep up the amazing work !

If I knew how
I'd tell you all the time
Talking about
And I'd tell you what it's like
Well holy hell
Might as well talk to myself now
Different how
Our feelings don't align
Solve it and now
It's repeating all the sign
Well holy hell
Trying not to talk to myself now
You never wanted anything
Well, are we over?
Tell me again
No matter what our hearts will bring
It's over, it's over, I think
Remember counting all the things
Well, are we over?
Tell me again
No mattеr what our hearts will bring
It's over, it's over
With or without
I'm trying to pick a sidе
Deep in my doubts
I'd be passing 25
Well holy hell
Trying not to think how it felt now
You never wanted anything
Well, are we over?
Tell me again
No matter what our hearts will bring
It's over, it's over, I think
Remember counting all the things
Well, are we over?
Tell me again
No matter what our hearts will bring
It's over, it's over
It's over, it's over, I think
It's over, it's over, think
No matter what our hearts will bring
It's over, it's over

I am blessed to hear more Ginger Root. This year has been a tough one on alot of people and this one particularly has been a meanie. I lost my daughter after her heart surgery failed and I also had a scare of my mother dying. My friend recommended me this channel and music. So thank you Ginger Root for everything this year. ❤
