I guess surely that Kimiko Takeguchi was inspired by Seiko Matsuda (松田 聖子). I think the airport scene was also inspired by the Japanese programme "The Best Ten (ザ • ベストテン)" in the episode that Seiko's song "Ao i Sangoshou (青い珊瑚礁)" was ranked in the programme for the first time in 1980.

The idea of imposter syndrome rings true not just for Ginger Root but also for Kimiko in this video. This sense of whether something is destructive or benevolent. Passing on a possible opportunity because it feels like a cage, and then seeing someone else thrive in that environment, resulting in FOMO. There's so much happening here. It's wonderful.
