I escaped a cult at the age of 18, I was born and raised in it.
Every once in a while I listen to this song to remind myself how far Iāve come, how unsafe i truly was inside the cult, and how deeply the mindset of being inside a cult is exactly like abuse induced Stockholm-syndrome : pure rejection of the outside world and viewing it as ignorant.
The fact that this song can capture exactly both the viewpoint of people inside a cult and outside of a cult with the same lyrics is so remarkable. Thanks

Heard this song for the first time in the summer of 2011 just after graduating high school. Never forget blasting it in my car. 18 years old. Hanging with my boys drinking and smoking weed. Not a care in the world. We all went to different colleges and I joined the Air Force. Miss those endless care free days that this song always takes me back to
