You can tell the amount of research Evil Uno and Chugs have done together on the gaming industry. This episode was very well informative. Thanks to these two, I've been exposed to games I've never even heard of! I can't think of an even greater video game team than these two.
In terms of my top 3 picks for the 2024 World Video Game Hall of Fame, they would be as follows:
1) Resident Evil
2) Metroid
3) Asteroids

I think Uno is probably pretty accurate with FF7 Remake vs Integrade vs Rebirth. I think something else to consider is that Remake was available on PS4 where Remake is PS5 only as well as the fact that they sold a bundle of 1 and 2 for the same price as 2. Some people probably just said "I'll wait for the third one and buy them all at once"

From the 12 selections available, here are my picks. Note that I'm just a general video game fan, not a Nintendo head, which will explain why I didn't immediately go "WHOA NINTENDO GAME THAT'S GOTTA GET PICKED"
Guitar Hero - What DDR (a game inducted into the HoF in 2022) did for rhythm games in the late 90s and early 2000s, Guitar Hero kinda did for the mid-to-late 2000s. Just a total social revolution, everyone played this game, even those who sucked and those who didn't like video games were playing this game, the gameplay was extremely intuitive but extremely difficult to master, of course being a rhythm game it helps that the franchise has some of the best soundtracks in video game history, unfortunately the franchise fizzled out but still lives through the fan community today.
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater - It's hard not to include this game for the fact that I can't think of any other game that practically popularized an entire hobby/sport. People legitimately played this game as an introduction to skateboarding and for a good few years everyone was on boards as a result. Also, again, easy to pick up gameplay, hard to master, fantastic soundtracks, and an insane fun factor that you don't find in many modern games.
Ultima - I was thinking about other games like Tokimeki Memorial, Metroid and Elite, but I'm going to go with Ultima. Extremely important RPG series spanning like 20 games at this point, I think it's more important to PC gaming than any other selection was as a whole.

Yay, we made it to episode 2. I also like the new layout for showing game clips.
My take on microtransactions/monetization is as long as it doesn't affect the gameplay and isn't a pay to win then it's fine. The consumer can decide if they want it or not.
For the HoF, I would say Asteroids, Metroid and Ultima. My personal write ins would be Chrono trigger, half life and minesweeper. Chrono trigger because it's my favourite rpg, half life because it did a lot for the PC fps space, and minesweeper because everyone played minesweeper when they were bored.

Chugs is 100% right about people not knowing it was a new Wii console.. I remember my sister calling me and telling me she wanted to get the accessory to the Wii for her kids the new controller with the screen I tried to tell her it's not a accessory it's a whole new console😂😂😂 she didn't want to believe me lol
