A few years ago I tried making transparent wood and it kind of worked. The pieces that I made were somewhat okay, but I was never really happy with the result. I finally decided to try it again though!

It's 1:30am, I'm 26 minutes into this video... and I've never been so emotionally invested in woodchips in my life.

It's cute how Nile doesn't realise he's definitely already on that list

Your voice is so unique. The way you talk is so satifying and made for listening to. I love how it always follows the same pattern. First it always sounds like a question. Then a sentence going up then down, then from up to down. Maybe its weird to acknowledge it, but i find it really facinating

"I wasn't exactly sure what the aluminum foil was for, but the paper said to use it, so I just did what it said." Good chemist.

I did a short project on this for my chemistry class! In my research I learned a lot about delignification, etc., but I was still pretty confused on how the process worked. The articles and papers I read made it seem really simple and I thought there must be something I was missing. This video would have been super helpful if I had found it. Edit: however, I will say that the process I learned about specifically didnā€™t remove the lignin to avoid encountering structural issues with the wood after having like half its components removed. Instead, they applied a wash of some sort of acid or base (I think? Itā€™s been a while and I donā€™t quite remember) and left the wood in the sun for a period of time. This was supposed to make the pigment inside the lignin transparent instead of removing the lignin in its entirety. This is the part I was confused about, because it seemed deceptively simple. Iā€™d love to see a video on this process, to see if it really is that simple!
