I really appreciate the neurodivergent accommodations that are more common at gaming events. I was at E3 in 2017 and they had something called the “AFK Room” where it was quiet and the lights were dimmed so you could sit in a bean bag and charge your phone or just chill out.

I can't get enough of these con reviews. Like I don't care if you know NOTHING about the subject of the convention - in fact I think that lets you give a more unbiased review. These are just fun to watch.

If you enjoyed going to a gaming con, you should go to PAX - one of the best run conventions I’ve seen thanks to the volunteer enforcers

8:00 This was also the first Blizzcon after everything came out about the toxic work culture at Blizzard. Could you imagine live Q&A sessions asking about unionization and everything else?

My wife and I got engaged at Blizzcon 2009, in front of the frozen throne. They used our clips in opening and closing ceremonies for a few years. Even then I don’t play blizzard games anymore. Thank you for reviewing. It brought back so many great memories.

As a cosplayer who goes to like... 9-14 cons a year, I love seeing Amanda go to cons that have a (usually) significant cosplay attendance. Makes me excited to go to more cons etc no matter the good or bad. She gives me a whole new perspective on conventions but also makes me wonder if she would ever go to one of the smaller anime cons I go to in the east/Midwest. Love all the nice events as well! Gives me a whole new love of the con life.

Overall, I still had a pretty good time mainly because of my friend group. Even got to meet my WoW guild in person there for the first time, which was absolutely magical. Despite the amount of things that were here, the event was HEAVILY downsized from what used to be there. There used to be game demos for all their franchises, not just two. Darkmoon Faire was actually on its own separate floor with much more space and activities. The StarCraft and Heroes of the Storm communities were completely abandoned this year - no mentions of them and not a single creator or player were at Blizzcon. We were very saddened that we couldn't find the Jim Raynor statue (StarCraft) and get a picture with it as was tradition for us. No alcohol sales this year either! The doors actually stayed open until 9 or 10pm both days as opposed to just 7pm this year. Before the whole e-sports bubble popping, Blizzcon was also the place where all their world championships for their games were held: WoW, Hearthstone, HotS, OW, and SC. The arena was the site for their biggest competitions (SC2 and OW) and they were truly a marvelous sight. Well that's enough reminiscing from this old timer. Thanks for reading!

Dan Olson (Folding Ideas) just did a video about the excessive line situation at blizzcon! He talked about it being a combination of a ton of choices that resulted in like a 5 hour line for one activity. I have no knowledge of blizzard and no convention experience but Dan (like Amanda) is great at getting me to learn about stuff i otherwise wouldn’t care about 👏

The drama with Team Canada was that they were doing Overwatch World Cup matches prior to the opening ceremony and on the last map of the Canada vs South Korea game they cut the live stream from the game to the opening ceremony. Canada was eliminated from the tournament and no one outside of BlizzCon got to see it.

You would have loved Saturday - all the cosplaying really happens on the final day thanks to the opening ceremonies being over and community night being that night. During community night the cosplayers go on stage and winners for different categories are announced. They also show and reward fan-made short films about the games. You should go next year and check that part out. We also got a live performance from kpop group le sserifim. As someone with anxiety and autoimmune issues the lounge was a life saver - a quiet space with artist/Dev signings, couches to sit on and shorter food lines. But it was wildly expensive for what it was. My biggest complaint about the con this year wasn't the changes they made but just the poor communication around them. Otherwise, I thought they did a great job.

Hello! I've been to two BlizzCon! in 2019 they had an entire arcade on their old games and franchises that are no longer available for sale. They also had multiple themed food areas and art areas. I do think they need an artist ally for this con that is invite only. All of these games have massive communities and deserve the area. They did use to have con-specific stuff. If you are a blizzard gamer it's amazing and I loved the con in past years. Also way more food trucks and inclusive spaces in previous years. There are also parties at the Hilton Hotel where you can meet your fav community member (influencer) that is not connected to the event.

Hey! I've gone to 5 out of the last 6 Blizzcons, including this one. I'm sad I didn't see you! Blizzard had included a backpack in a previous goodie bag; however, this year's backpack is different (and better) from the previous one. For the influencer meet and greets, they did announce online who would be there, not sure why it wasn't on the schedule. The influencers themselves tweeted about when they would be at the meet and greet area. Apparently it was managed poorly, but I didn't go to the influencer meet and greet. They had virtually no con-specific merch, other than some of the velcro patches in the Darkmoon Faire toy capsules and possibly some of the other special areas (like where you got the Diablo cookbook and the Hearthstone artist alley). Previous Blizzcons had a lot more exclusive merch, and they would even announce new merch after the opening ceremony when new content was revealed for their games. You're 100% right about the only people who liked Blizzcon this year are the ones who have never been before. Compared to previous years, this was an absolute mess. They never used to have all the panels in the arena. There was simply not enough space in the arena for all of the people who wanted to attend the panels. They used to have a stage in each hall with plenty of seating for everyone who wanted to attend each panel. There was also significantly less content overall. Yes, all the photo ops were cool and the lighting/atmosphere was awesome. But at the end of the day, I spent $300 (for admission alone) and flew from NYC and didn't get to do 75% of the things that I wanted to do (and did do at all the previous Blizzcons I attended). Day 2 was somehow even worse than day 1, probably because more people were able to attend on Saturday as opposed to Friday. The fire marshall had to step in around 11/11:30 AM because there were just wayyyyy too many people in the Darkmoon Faire and they were at capacity. They closed off the whole area and there was a huge line just to get into that area for the rest of the day. The Darkmoon Faire used to have its own floor in the ACC, and crowds were never an issue there before. I mean yes, it was crowded but not at capacity. There were also at least 3 furries there on day 2, sorry you missed them! lol

As someone who refuses to support Blizzard anymore due to their mistreatment of female employees and gamers, this was so a super insightful vid! I love watching you do these unbiased and genuinely interesting reviews of events!

The sensory tent is such a great idea bc you never know when someone could have a panic attack or mental issue! My older sibling just got diagnosed with anxiety, they though they were having a heart attack when they first had a first panic attack. If that happened to someone at a con or any public event space, it's important for them to have a place to go to get help❤

Too bad you missed seeing Le Sserafim! Would have been a great performance. I always love seeing non-gamers go to gaming related things. It’s fun seeing difference perspectives.

This is the first time in Blizzcon history that they didn't sell out. Those controversies hit them hard.
