One of the things I admire most about Cosmo Sheldrake as an artist is these elaborate and immersive soundscapes he builds. I could hardly begin to imagine how much hard work goes into it behind the scenes, doubly so when in the final product it feels so effortless.

So I have a theory on what this song represents. I think the “old ocean” were past chapters in his life, like past memory’s. The song represents how life’s always changing but he’ll always be thankful for the past. The lyric “Rocked by an endless motion” makes me think that it’s trying to say that life always happens and never stops or slows down. The song could also show how you’ll never know what will happen in the future, “whether truth or story, you can’t pick or choose, heather blunt or thorny, it’s not up to you”. This could mean that many unexpected things and changed happen in life sometimes. The last line where he thinks his “old ocean”, has the final line which says “wont be the same without you”. This could possibly mean that he knows he’s moved on but he’ll always miss the “old ocean”.
Anyway this was just a silly theory maybe it’s actually just a silly sea song :).
