Today weā€™re making the flaming Spanish Coffee! This drink was developed in Oregon, so itā€™s not exactly Spanish. However, itā€™s most likely a variation on the Carajillo - which did originate in Spain. What sets it apart from other spiked coffee drinks is the presentation. Fire heats the sugared rim creating a caramelized edge to the glass. Itā€™s eye-catching, a little bit dangerous, and very tasty - whatā€™s not to love? Enjoy, and make, this one responsibly. Cheers!

I live in Portland, and have been to Hubers many times. I'd recommended one little trick they do, which is to rim both the outside and the inside of the glass with sugar. That way, the carmelized sugar runs down into the drink and you get a nice little kick of it every sip. It's deeeelicious!

I have had these at Hubers in Portland and they make them tableside and usually have a dedicated server just for this purpose. Believe me, the guy as always running, even lunchtime during the week. Hubers itself is an amazing restaurant and cannot say enough good about it. Great food, great service, great ambiance.

This looks great. I am currently watching your videos in a country where you cannot have alcohol( on a year long deployment non military). It reminds me of home where I follow your channel for drink recipes that I would mix up for my girlfriend and I. It brings a little bit of home to a far off place. Keep up the good work Anders. I can't wait to get back to the good old USA and try a few of these new cocktails. Cheers

Most likely came from Baja, the whole flair thing in food is done a lot in los cabos, tijuana and ensenada, the cesar salad as well it was exciting because it was made with some flair table side, the cocktails as well and the carajillo what made it different from the Spanish one was pretty much using fire as flair and mexican kahlua instead of other coffee liqueurs from Europe.

I had to laugh, but can totally see your point - make one and then everyone else wants to have one! Having a drink thatā€™s also an experience is the way to enjoy the cocktails!

My problem is that I live in Hooterville. What that means is premixed margaritas, lots of beer on tap, and a lot of low and bourbon and tequila on the bars around here. Iā€™m pretty sure if I were to go order this at one of those establishments, their head would explode.Iā€™m glad I found your channel channel. Otherwise I would never know about all of these potential delicious concoctions.

The version for Spanish coffee in the Netherlands is with licor 43 instead of coffee- and orange liqueur. This seems way better have to try!

Huber's is still going, fun place. When people order them in other bars around town, the bartenders all get pissed cuz its such a pain in the ass. Cheers!

Random baking note: you can caramelize sugar in the oven in advance to make this drink a little more efficiently and safely. Spread sugar onto a baking pan and bake at 325 for around 2 hours until the color of dark sand, stirring every 30 minutes or so.

And if you like that PDX drink, The Heathman used make ā€œsteamersā€ with steamed milk and a shot or two of various liqueurs served in a Champagne Flute. Gran Marnier, Baileys, Chamboardā€¦ or mixing.
