B.o.B. aka Bob aka Bobby Ray aka the guy that made "Airplanes" and "Nothin on You"...somebody that used to collab with Bruno Mars, Hayley Williams, Taylor Swift, Andre 3000, and Kendrick Lamar...somebody that went from going number one on the Billboard charts to talking about nonsense on a podcast that gets a few thousand views on YouTube...let's talk about that guy. His rise, his downfall, everything in between, etc. Enjoy.

B.O.B. was truly a globe trotting success.

That writing session was the nerdy kids lunch table of the music industry. All they needed was Ed Sheeran to round it out and give us that Old School Love.

His biggest mistake was the timing. Audiences are more willing to look past your faults when you're at a career high point, but his career was already on the decline and that was just the final nail in the coffin.

remember that tyler the creator got his first big hit by saying he'd crash the airplane B.o.B is in

MJ'ing instead of balling and flat earth? I think BoB is just sphere-phobic.

The Adventures of Bobby Ray was the first rap album I ever listened to, so it'll always have a place in my heart. Maybe not a special place, but a place.

I would like to see a full length documentary about B.O.B because I want to hear of anyone expected or know how much of a nut he was before he went public about it

can't forget about B.o.B.'s legendary Odd Future/Tyler, The Creator diss track featuring the incredible lines of: It's nothin', roll up the stuffin' Put it in the oven, get baked like muffins

Maybe if he flew in an actual airplane he would realize that the Earth is NOT flat

I think he had the reach to potentially be the next big rapper but aside from the songs drying up, he was overshadowed by Drake and Kendrick and he was no longer that interesting to audiences

One thing I need to mention is the direct Vampire Weekend sample/interpolation on B.o.B’s debut album. He sampled The Kids Don’t Stand a Chance. It features Janelle Monáe. It FLOORED me when I first heard it.

I was 20-21 yrs old when B.o.B hit/was in his prime. He was going with that backpack/preppy boy rap then around 2013 he tried to go back to that Atlanta Trap sound, which no one was believing since he already created that preppy image from 2006-2011. Oh well, he made his mark in the Early 2010s. Thanks for the memories Bobby Ray #TheStarsOfYesteryear #Early2010s

May I introduce you to Mr Traumatik, the UK Drum&Bass Rap equivalent of B.O.B.? Seriously, he had a big hit last year with Balling but if you look into his music, he talks about chemtrails, fluoride in the water and jacks the Central Cee Doja flow for a song called Cancelled where he drops homophobic bars

this is incredible! i literally started relistening to b.o.b's songs a couple of days ago, searching up for some videos on how he fell from the mainstream grace he was given back in the day. now you uploaded a vid on it! cheers

Unfortunately this man had a chokehold on a young me's Spotify. Not even just the big hits off of Bobby Ray, Strange Clouds all the way to "Chandelier" and "Headbandz." Even more than Lupe, even more than Kendrick, Drake, Kanye, B.o.B. was a taste maker for me and I look back on those years with regret. HOWEVER If you dare venture into this rabbit hole, make your first and only stop "Play the Guitar" featuring Andre 3000. A guest spot from 3 Stacks is always the best part of albums from this era, looking at you Take Care.

In the 2000s we didn't pick up on mental health like we do now. How did nobody pick up on the fact that dude is insane? These are important questions that need to be asked.
