Top Comments of this video!! :3
She has a song called clara bow on this album. A silent film star in the 1920s who was slut shamed and painted negitively by hollywood the media of that time. She later spent time in a mental institution and underwent shock therapy. So it can be safe to say taylor is portraing her in this video.
Also she has a song called the black dog on the album which might be the dog here. And you catched the dead poets society, one of the few reactors i’ve seen catch that!
Amazing review as always

You really are the best reactor on YouTube. I know it’s not where your true talents and interests lie but dang, you’re good at it. You don’t miss anything. I’m glad you didn’t spend time trying to figure out who this was about. While there are back stories and allusions to some people throughout the anthology, they aren’t the point of the album. Her use of metaphor and lyricism to paint pictures of her emotions is unmatched. Would love to see your reactions to any other songs on this album. It gets better w each listen.
Praying for you and your family. 🙏🏼

You were on the right track with the tattoos tbh cos they (in my opinion) symbolise their pain. Whenever we see one or the other with the tattoos, means they're in pain. HERE ME OUT! So the video starts with present-day - her being in an asylum with (Post's) tattoos on her face. She's in pain. Her in the Victorian gown is the way they met and in that "scene", Post has tattoos, Taylor doesn't. He's a troubled guy with a lot of "blue days" while Taylor is the Daylight that's trying to get through to him to ease his pain. Then we get a montage of their love story (short-lived but special regardless) - neither of them have tattoos. The experiment scene is where the tattoos come back on Post's face meaning his (mental) pain is back. But now Taylor is in actual (physical) pain. This scene perhaps symbolises the idea that she was ripped into shreds by the world - could be alluding to her reputation being destroyed by Kim&Kanye. Notice how Post is the one to unplug the machine that's electrifying her, meaning that he alleviated the pain and suffering - although only temporarily as we see in the next scene, their relationship completely breaks down. Telephone booth and Taylor being on top of it in a violent storm, it's showing the miscommunication, misalignment, etc. they're literally on 2 different wavelengths. This led to her ending up in the psych ward, her completely wrecking the office where they met, burning the pages of the book (titled "us") that they were reading in the flashback scene. We as the audience think, ok this is it, she left him, they broke up. But nope. The video ends with a hook of their hands touching again which I think was the final reconnection that led to his pain being transferred on to her permanently, and they rest on her face as tattoos forever.

The necklace is probably a reference to Clara Bow, very famous actress in the silent movies in the 1920s and was regarded as the first true 'It Girl' and she was both celebrated and condemned in the media. She checked into The Institute of Living, various psychological tests and shock treatment were performed. All and all, Taylor drew inspirations and similarities from historical figures mainly women who were treated unfairly for their success.

From what I understand from the Swifties on X is that this video is a timeline of sorts, encompassing all three men: Matty (she met Matty before Joe), then Joe, then Matty again, and finally Travis at the end in the phone booth - they zoom in the bracelet she's wearing.
Taylor wouldn't answer Travis at first when he started calling her and she even threatened to block his number. In the end, she reached out to Travis. The rest is a love story made for the story books. Just in case anyone is interested.

You’re right about the roaring twenties! Taylor is emulating Clara Bow, (which is the name of track 16) a famous silent film star from the twenties, and the choker looks just like one that Clara wore. Clara was the “it” girl who suffered a nervous breakdown, and spent much of her life in and out of mental institutions. It’s a great opening song for the album because it touches on all the themes of pining for someone you can’t have, loss, anger, mental health. The album kind of moves through the fives stages of grief. Wonderful reaction! Feel free to make an entire album using 80’s retro pop synth sounds!

As many times as I have watched this video... Every time I see her typing, I'm thinking "oh. thats how all of us older folk got carpal tunnel." Also, as Taylor is sitting on the phone booth and reaches to touch Posty's hand reminds me of the Michelangelo painting of the Creation of Adam. Even the way she is sitting on the phone booth like a statue or "gargoyle" (beautiful) protector.

Just one thing that shocked me, how you didn't realize the facial expression change when Taylor and Post was looking at each other. First shots Taylor seems happy and hopeful and Post also, the second shot Taylor seems stone-cold and angry and Post very concerned. I think this is where the relationship turned around, from being good and happy to trembling.
And I think the tattoos represent the sadness they got from the relationship, or the lasting affects as you mentioned.
Another thing, Taylor said on the instagram post description for this MV that this MV has many references to many songs in the album.
The first scene, as many mentioned, is a reference to Clara Bow and the mental institution. Also, the way she was trapped in bed until she takes the "forget him" pill is in my opinion a reference to the song loml because of the lyrics:
"Dancing phantoms on the terrace
Are they second-hand embarrassed
That I can't get out of bed?" as we see a phantom like creature giving her the pill.
On the Frankenstein scene, the black dog, is probably a direct reference to the title of the song "The Black Dog". Even though the song itself is not about any dogs :)
And lastly: In the rainy telephone booth scene, must be a reference to So Long London. Because of the telephone booth imagery and the lyrics:
"My spine split from carrying us up the hill
Wet through my clothes, weary bones caught the chill"
as they are up in the peak of a hill and it's raining. And Taylor is the only one to get soaked in the rain, Post being in the booth. Also very connected to So Long London's theme, the feels come from being the only person in the relationship that tries to save it, while the other party is trapped in their own bluest days/sadness.
Of course in the outro the lyric of "move to Florida" is a wink to Florida!!! in my opinion.
If you have any other ideas of how other scenes could be connected to any songs in the album, please let me know! :)
Another amazingly done reaction video you seem to get the gist of everything even though you are not deep into TS multiverse :) It takes a lot of receptivity and knowledge! Great work!!
