What you missed ! :
* Muntkelder : poffertjes + glass of Ranja. Iconic Dutch treat for kids. I had that in De Muntkelder some 60 years ago.
* HEMA : tompoes, and 1/2 rookworst. HEMA-rookworst is hands down the best.
* Broodje Mario : unforgivable! It's iconic In Utrecht and about. I ate that a lot when I was a student in Utrecht. One bol makes for a whole meal.
* Pandhof : right next to the Dom church
* Kromme Nieuwegracht : much prettier and romantic than the Oudegracht.
* singels : the parks along the singels, i.e. the old moats surrounding the medieval city bastions.

As someone who lives half an hour drive away from Venlo, and who pretty much spent half his childhood in the Netherlands and grew up on this stuff, I can honestly say that I love dutch food and dutch supermarkets. I always totally pig out during my frequent shopping- and holiday trips across the border 🇩🇪♥️🇳🇱

The bunny at the end is "Nijntje" or "Miffy" in English. She's the main character in a series of picture books for toddlers. Her creator is called "Dick Bruna" and he's from Utrecht. The little label said "Ik ben niet voor de verkoop", meaning "I am not for sale". Probably because it looks like the employees at the bookstore had sown the yellow book onto her hands (being Dutch and having seen a lot of stuffed "Miffy's", I have never seen one holding a book, usually it's just different fabrics or costumes). Also, frikadellen and kroketten (or bamischijven, kaas soufflés etc.) would be doable to bring home with you on a 3 hour home journey, as long as you put it in the freezer as soon as you get home(I mean, Dutch people are sometimes in a similar situation when combining shopping and grocery shopping if they visit another village or city, then it's not uncommon to have those items being outside of a freezer for 3 hours as well).

Missing out on Hema's 'Rookworst' is a small sin as it is their staple food delight for decades together with their 'Tompous' (although quality has significantly decrease over the years). @ Deana & Phil: Fortunately Hema's can be found all over the country so no excuse to miss these in a replay :) PS: Similar smoked sauge is used in the Dutch 'Snert' and "Erwtensoep' (pea soup) which is very well know soup and generally consumed in the winter months. Definitely one to try as well, if you want to experience our limited real Dutch cuisine.
