Also, I totally agree with the whole 'if you hadn't read the books, this makes no sense' argument. Like watch Movie 5. I SWEAR that if you had never read the books, that movie is just a string of things happening for 2 hours. Also, they somehow made the LONGEST BOOK into the SHORTEST MOVIE. It's madness.

In that second scene you mentioned, it explains that strange or magical things happen when a wizard or witch get's very angry and the magic inside them get's out of control, plus you have to be very experienced and powerful to do wandless or nonverbal or both spells and characters like Dumbledore do it multiple times throughout the movie, wands just let the less powerful and even the powerful focus and control the magic.

In the book there was a troll, and a room with three poisons, two cups of alcohol, one potion to proceed and one to go back, and a riddle, both of which were left out of the movie.
The troll was already knocked out by Quirrel, but it was a much much bigger troll than the one on Halloween so they wouldn't have been able to get past it.
Hermione took quite a long time to figure out the riddle.
Those flying keys could probably kill you by all impaling you, so anyone less than a once-a-century seeker or someone able to overpower or undo the key's enchantments wouldn't be able to get past it.
The chess board is deadly. If Ron wasn't on a piece that already existed he'd have been killed; you had to play Chess in such a way as you not only checkmate White's King but also so that YOU, AS A PIECE, survive. Not easy at all.
The Devil's Snare is simple enough but only if you know what you're dealing with and know how to survive it.
Fluffy is an obstacle you can only get past if you're either a freakishly powerful wizard or know how to put it to sleep.
The Mirror of Erised is most genius, and frankly, Dumbledore could have just had the mirror out in some random corridor and the Stone would be safe by virtue of nobody even knowing of the Stone's existence, as well as the fact that Dumbledore probably didn't tell even the staff about his protections. The trapdoor and all protections beyond it would have just been a giant, deadly red herring with a fake Stone at the end.

10:39 The idea (not shown well in the books) is that it's damn near impossible to catch the snitch and most games go on for several hours with the seekers doing next to nothing for most of it. It could've definitely been written better though, maybe like 10-20 points per score just to make the other players matter a bit more and maybe decrease the snitch to like 100 points.

For anyone who doesn't know yet, the reason Rons first spell in the movie to turn his pet rat yellow doesn't work is because the rat is actually a polymorphed human, which you know in the later movies as Peter Petigrew, of course everyone whos seen all the movies knows he is the rat, but most people don't realize that that is the reason behind this spell not working. Ron probably could very easily have done the spell on a normal rat and looked very cool doing so... or not haha.

Quidditch is actually pretty interesting as a sport. Because in the books youll see that the seekers at the beginning of the game both compete super hard to catch the snitch / prevent the other seeker from catching it, but once there are points on the board its all about catching it at the right time.
Like if your team is down 160 points, then catching the snitch literally makes you lose.
