These are some dishes we really missed and had to eat immediately! What would be your first meal in or back in Germany?

Idea for a video: Give Deana a German recipe, has to grocery shop and cook it. She is not allowed to use translators for help and in the store she needs to use German in case she has any questions for the food she needs to buy

I am Dutch but live 30 minutes away from the German border. I grew up with semmel knödel and I swear no one here knows what I'm talking about when I mention them. They are soooo good and there is nothing comparable to them here. When we go grocery shopping in Germany (once, twice a year) I always stock up on them. I ate them all the time when I lived in a student dorm too! Semmel knödel is definitely superior to the potato ones in my opinion

Fresh pastry items in the morning, self-made Schnitzel for lunch, Döner Kebab in the evening - Indeed the perfect day being back in Germany! 😋

Another fun and festive video! My sons and I will be in Düsseldorf in about 3-weeks and now we know where to get a döner! We've also been making schnitzel at home, which has been sehr lecker! If you go to München and want to do a video on a great place for schnitzel, go to Drei Mühlen. They have several types of schnitzel that are awesome! I recommend the Schnitzel Trio - 3-types of schnitzel on one plate. Keep up the great work! The bbq you had in South Carolina looked awesome!

Every Monday morning my grandfather would come over to my family's flat and tap on the windows with his keys. He and my father worked together but my dad loved to sleep in. Grandpa would bring a box of pastries and coffee, and I remember eating cheese danishes that were so damn good. This video is a strong call back to those memories.

of course, my Alexa heard you speaking to your Alexa and started a 10 minute timer. Glad you are back! loved the cooking, and in the US try for shawarma instead of Döner. Similar and more common, many places that have felafel, have shawarma.

The meal you just made looks very delicious I would definitely eat it. We make breaded fried sauted chicken in a pan like that here in the United States, some of us even put gravy on it, I make a delicious Hunter's gravy with mushrooms. I also make dumplings and I also make purple red cabbage from scratch and I put raisins in it and it's delicious.

You can use the bottom of a cast iron pan to flatten your schnitzel.

The Nusschleife seems similar to the Bear Claw they sell over here in Oregon.

I've found that gyros in Greek shops are the closest to a döner. It's not exactly the same, but definitely fills the craving 😊

Good to see you guys. Doner Kebab is defiantly something I crave from Germany and its not here in the US. The Gyro is not quite the same. And no would not pay $17 for one the best thing is they are cheap and good to eat while on the go.
