Lyrics

There was a time…
Dark and devine…
Exciting and new.
shameful and true…
Free to explore,
we had it all:
Towering trust,
insatiable lust…

Clouding the truth,
both of us knew:
this sordid affair
is ending in tears…

Yes, we would go on,
knowing the wrong.
Until the day,
it was taken away…

Oh, all our love
fell down
to earth…
Here, broken and cold…
With grave remorse…

But for a while
it all made sense…
It might have been just a dark pretence,
but you had me…
And I loved it…
To be with you,
to be the one,
to live a lie,
it really got me all excited…
I felt wanted…

Then in the night,
the sorrow inside,
was taken away,
deliverance came…

Fell from the sky,
heaven replied…
Salvation in streams,
silent and clean…

All that we were,
all that we knew,
faded away,
with tears in the rain…

yes, all that we were,
all that we knew
is fading away,
like tears in the rain…

All that we were,
all that we knew…
…fading away…

All that we were,
all that we knew…
…fading away…

I heard this for the first time in a roof top bar in Santa Monica as the sun set over the palms and the ocean. I had a beer buzz, was with good people, and there wasn't another song that could have sounded better at the time.

this song reminds me of my late wife. It ended in tears for me. I knew she was sick. I lived that lie that she wasnt going to outlive me. It made me excited for the future, for our future. It all made sense for a while. It was a dark pretense... I knew she was sick. I knew she would not live, I ignored it... I didn't want to see it. I couldn't or wouldn't see it. To be the one, to be with her, I felt wanted. but in the night... deliverance came. All that we knew... all that we were... fading away. Now, I'm falling out of the sky... like so many tears in the rain. My Love fell gently into the earth, cold, broken, Grave, ...Remorse. I miss here so much. I miss here so... so... much.

I first listened to this after I broke up with my Ex.. the song brought feelings that are hard to describe with words.. 3.5 years later I have listened again for the first time. It brought back a lot of feelings but surprisingly it felt good. Things heal overtime

I feel this song is the outcome of loving someone to hard and fully giving them your all, such as your heart, body and soul then they unexpectedly crush it, the pain can last for years even if you don't want it to even when you try to move on that shit haunts you.

I just discovered this track on a shared playlist and I spent the entirety of last night listening to it on repeat because I had no other choice but to hear more and more of this. There are so many layers, the mood, the tone, the cadence, the sentiment is absolutely astounding. I got chills, but not superficially - chills from my core outward to all parts of my body, deeply. I have never experienced anything like that and I am so happy to find this. Overjoyed.

this song hits me deeply, i got involved with a man that was living a double life and i fell for it and him.. probably the most painful thing i had to endure, letting someone go that you know you could never have

Listening to it everytime during takeoff in many years. Calms me down and whispers "Yes all that we were, all that we knew Is fading away like tears in the rain". And it's not scary anymore. Thank you 💜
