For me the scene showing the for- part of the suicide note intends to lead the viewer to believe that the mom might be writing "forgive me" to her son. The scene of him showing what the note actually says in the ending part is him reflecting on the fact that his mom didn't regret any of her actions.

The scene where the note is revealed is so chilling to me. I was honestly thinking Davisâs mom wouldâve written something out of regret like âforgive meâ or âIâm sorry.â But the fact that she just writes âfor your film,â to her son with multiple torture tapes and then just kills herself after is so creepy to me. It looks like she never even really regretted it. Itâs like her murderous tendencies and mentality never left her.

I think the episode truly showcases the darkest and most selfish aspects of all the characters:
1. Janet wants his son to gain fame for all the horrible things she and her husband committed but suicides so her son deals with it alone.
2. Davis still accepts the offer and the award for the movie, though he is clearly ashamed of his parents.
3. Pia loves Davis, but still suggests they shot a documentary about the murders and make a lot of money, though she realizes it hurts the feelings of Davis and his mom.
4. Richard knew something was wrong with Janet and his husband, but still chose not to dig anything up, because he was afraid he might be associated with them, and after the story gets public, his pub will lose customers.
5. Though Stuart cares for Davis, he cares more about the pub and thus is happy that the pub is overbooked.
I think the true magic of the episode is that there are no good characters here and everyone acts selfishly, caring about wealth or fame more than their loved ones.

Did anyone else get the vibe that, after he read his note from his mom and saw the mask award, that maybe he had this weird sadistic nature in him too? I say this bc when he was telling Pia in bed about how his father died, he was hard... i thought that was a very strange connection. Maybe things are finally making sense for him now?

Loch Henry was one of the best episodes of Black Mirror I've ever seen, and I've seen them all. The revelation at the end was absolutely chilling. When Janet walks into the "Kill Room" with the mask, drill, and nurse's outfit, I thought it was the epitome of creepy and horror. Thanks for pointing out all the Easter eggs đ
