As an artist and drummer this is one of my favorite Drum Department episodes! Very educational and inspirational to both my art and music. I have a Digitech Vocal Processor that I am definitely going to hook up to my electronic drums to experiment with that after watching this. I never would have thought of doing this until now. Thank you!

Aric Improta is the most creative drummer on the planet, period. I am inspired every time I watch him play drums or even just listen to him talk about drumming. I love how 2001: A Space Odyssey motivated him to make a cymbal "sing" in his Meinl solo. (By the way, if you'r ereading this comment and you haven't seen "Blur-Lights in the Videodrome," you need to watch it, like, now. It's jaw-dropping.)

At 11:40 the painting in question is by Chinese artist Li Gongnian done in 1120-ish. I believe it is a detail as most Chinese paintings would depict the entire landscape and there would be a number of chop-seal stamps throughout one area of the work.

@11:00 "Does that make sense?"
Yes, it makes sense, Aric. I only discovered Night Verses a few weeks back and they are definetely in my top 10 of fave bands right now. <3 <3

I've been screaming that he's the best drummer currently out there. I loved watching Neil Peart and Danny Carey growing up through high school, but when I discovered Night Verses, it was like discovering Tool all over again (as far as finding something brand new to you with song structure that made you think outside of what you thought music could be) and since then Aric has been my favorite drummer.
