now the sirens have a still more fatal weapon than their song, namely their silence... someone might possibly have escaped from their singing; but from their silence, certainly never — franz kafka.

POV: you're sat on a rock in the ocean looking over a beach that sits below a large village.  You watch children play in the sand and run from the approaching waves, just like you'd always longed to do. You longingly look down to your sparkling tail as the waves trickle over it. A feeling of guilt washes over you for dreaming of leaving the sea but your desire to run and feel the sand and grass under feet outweighs the guilt. You know you can never approach the land people and feel the dry sand, your people have before but were treated like monsters, strung up and showcased in a cage for the rest of their lives. So you were stuck to merely dreaming of land. You carried on gazing at the playing children, while humming one of your peoples beautiful melodies as the sun began to set when suddenly you hear a gasp from behind you. You turn and see a young man sat within a small rowing boat staring directly at you. Going against your instincts to swim away you don't move and continue to gaze into his eyes, just as he does to you, he doesn't scream or try to leave. You hear him whisper to himself "I must be dreaming", you tilt your head and reply "You and me both". The waves calmly hit the side of his boat as you begin to speak to each other and you stay for what seems like hours. As the stars begin to light up the night sky he tells you he has to return home, and begins to row to shore, but as he leaves he shouts to you with a smile on his face "Please come back, so I know I'm not dreaming" you smile and nod before diving into the deep blue water, a feeling of warmth you've never felt before spreading throughout your body. You return to the rock the next day and he is already waiting for you, but this time in the water. You talk and laugh all day, learning about the world you're forbidden to explore, just as he does yours. His words sweet like honey and his touch as gentle as the waves deeply entrance you. You meet at your spot almost everyday for months, you know you're in love with him and he with you. He brings you so much joy and happiness, you can't bare to be apart for too long. However, with your love comes bitterness, you know you can't be with him, he cannot survive in your world and you're a monster in his. You have spoken of your future once and he's assured you he doesn't care about your differences and that he will always love you more than anything, but you know one day this wont be enough. As winter approaches and seas become stormy you continue to meet your forbidden love. Despite the dangers he refuses to go a day without being with you. One especially stormy day his boat capsized, you fought your way through the current to him but he was unconscious with blood coming from his head. You didn't know what to do, the love of your life was dying in your arms. You swam to the shore and got him onto the sand and screamed as loud as you could for what felt like a lifetime. Soon villagers came down and found your love lying on the sand. From behind a rock you watched as he was taken into the safety and warmth of the houses, you prayed he would survive. But you knew then, your love couldn't continue. Days went by before you saw him again. He was rowing to your meeting place but you weren't to be seen, you were hidden under the waves. You watched as he waited. As time went on you could see the pain in his eyes, it tore you apart, you wanted nothing more than to go to him, but you knew your love couldn't protect him from the dangers in your world. He returned everyday for weeks and you never showed yourself to him, even when he screamed and cried out for you. Soon he stopped coming. You had broken your heart to save his. You returned to your shared place occasionally over the next few years, to remember your love and the joy you shared, but, despite your dreams he was never there. Many years later on your annual return to your much loved rock and village beach, there was a familiar boat with a familiar face sat within it. From a distance you watched as the familiar person turned in your direction. It was him. Your love. Except he wasn't alone. A young girl sat upon his lap. You listened as he told the girl stories of a beautiful mermaid who roamed the waters singing enchanting melodies, stories of you. It warmed your heart to see the happiness in his eyes as he thought of you. The pair remained for a while but as they were leaving you sang aloud the song you had sung the day you met. Suddenly he turned and you locked eyes almost instantly. Without saying a word he knew then why you had left him. You had given him up so he could have a life, you had given your life for his.  A tear fell down your cheek and into the water as all your pent up emotions were released. You knew you had done the right thing letting him go. You both smiled at each other and you saw the sun hit a tear falling from his eye. You slowly submerged yourself back under the ocean and watched from a distance as he rowed back to shore with his child. They climbed out of the boat and ran across the sand, as he reached the village he turned and waved towards the ocean, towards you. You felt a wave of relief wash over you knowing he had lived his life.  Your love for each other had never disappeared, he was still the man you had met all those years ago. He was still the love of your life, its just you were no longer his.. if u made it to the end, u deserve a medal❤️ thank u

TRIGGER WARNING!!! The tittle gets even more sad when you think about this. I read somewhere mermaids are related to r@pe victims, having a tail instead of legs so they arent opened against their will again, their song atracting the ships being their ask for help trying to attract their safety and justice.

I never saw the prince as an evil character in The Little Mermaid. He simply loved another and wasn’t aware of the mermaid’s situation until the very end. It’s a cautionary tale, that even if you sacrifice everything for someone, it won’t inherently mean that they’ll love you back. In the end, even the mermaid saw that. She doesn’t kill the prince with the enchanted dagger when she gets the chance, because she realises that he’s innocent and that it would be wrong to end his life for her own benefit. It’s a tragic story.

POV: Icy saltwater churns against my face as my flowing tears fall to join the sea. My tail cuts through the waves in powerful strokes and I desperately fight against the raging current, my seashell studded dagger pressed to my chest. Not long ago, I had dreams of a beautiful future, a life with my lover under the stars. Today, that changed forever. He was a sailor, with cerulean eyes that shone even brighter than the moon. Those eyes were filled with amazement and wonder the day we met, taking me in as he locked my gaze. He had anchored his ship with a sudden force that sent sea spray lapping against the rocks upon which I was siting. Fear had surged through me as he stepped off, and my fingers froze, halfway through braiding pearls in my hair. I had never met anyone like him before, anyone brave enough to approach a siren. My whole life I had been taught to weave enchanting stories through song, to lure men into quiet madness before they could reveal the hidden truths of our world. It was the only way to remain safe, unthreatened. But something about him was different, strangely comforting. So I never sang, and we just sat there, talking as we watched the sunset. I trusted him with my life, my love, and everything I had. He betrayed me. He sought to exploit us, expose us. He spun tales about mermaids to wealthy merchants, promising business in the healing powers of our blood and lockets made from our scales. Now we are hunted, no longer an old legend. And I have to be the one to set things right. I will sing until my voice breaks and my lips bleed raw. I will fight to protect my family. I will put my blade through his heart. Never again will I trust.

pov; “I promise” she swore. “I promise by all the gods, I will love you forever and a day.” The young girl was transfixed. Here was the loveliest creature she’d ever seen. And the most peculiar. The milkiest skin folding into the sharpest of scales. Plumpest lips uttering the wildest oaths. “But tell me, what are you?” “Oh but does it matter my dear? Does anything matter at all other than love? The aching of my heart and the cries of my soul all for you?” Their lips met and the waves crashed. The thrum of their spirits deafening. The girl’s body erupted in flames. She reaches for her lover and they swayed in the moonlight. They danced and twirled till the sky turned liquid. Till her lungs filled with pain and her smile went wry. Till her skin turned blue and her world turned black. The oceans screamed for her. A single broken sob pierces the uproar and the world drowns in quiet. Time stops and ears split. “I am so sorry.” The mermaids rejoice with their friend exclaiming their content. Their jeers of joy go unheard. “Where did she go?” “Oh who bloody cares?” “Probably swimming in pride. I know I'd be.” The sea carries the corpse landward. The young girl is not found till dawn. Her body oddly warm and her hair braided with weed. Her state most strange. She looks loved and in love. A smile so small you could miss it pressing against her lips. When the men arrived they vow they saw a woman weeping by her side. A broken little thing that ran at their sight. The horizon mourned her for millennia. The tides broke in sorrow. Day after day after day till an old nymph washed ashore. Her scales gone dull and her skin pale. Her wrinkly, pained face spoke of a beautiful youth. The same quiet smile pressed against her lips. Together at long last.

***ANGST AHEAD*** POV: They hauled the mermaid onboard the vessel. Her screams were deafened by the cries of the waves crashing against the ship, as if Poseidon himself held on fast to the masts and hulls and thrashed them, commanding them to release a daughter of the sea. As if the tears he cried were the white foam that sprayed against the sailors legs, a father's plead. But mortals are no longer ruled by gods. On this ship, they are ruled by the Captain. Each mortal bore a dagger in his hands, and a hunger so ravenous drenched their eyes for jewels that adorned the mermaid's tail. Her breath was wild and frantic. She looked up and saw the Captain of the ship--her lover. Her lips quivered as he smiled down upon her. "I trusted you." He kneeled down before her. Caressed her cheek and a flood of memories pooled into her mind like a riptide pulling her towards all the tender words, tender vows, tender touches they exchanged under the golden hour, where land meets sea. "I know." He was the first to stab her with a dagger, cutting out a jewel from her scales. There was no hesitation, no remorse, no regret. He took a piece of her, blood dripping down his hands, and basked in its beauty. He turned his back. "No, please---" The onslaught of daggers that followed felt like she was tossed into a shiver of frenzied sharks. Each cut, each slash, each taking the best parts of her they lusted after. Leaving the parts they didn't want as undesirable and ugly. The pain knocked her in and out of consciousnesses. Finally, she was left battered, misshapen, and torn. She looked down at her tail in horror. Wailing. They pulled her from her tail. Pain searing through her, raw and red. Grabbing scale, flesh and bone without mercy. Tossing her into the waves below. As she watched the storm rage above from below the rolling waves, she sank further and further into the cool embrace of her home. Leaving rivulets of red in her descent. Betrayed by her love. There was no love among mortal men. There were only three things in life she could be sure of: herself, the sea, and the ocean floor to catch her fall. ....... idk if this was good, but it was fun to write :D sfddfsdf

POV: she grabbed his arm as he look back into her eyes one last time before they depart "come back to me" her sweet voice was shaking as she tries to suppress her tears but her eyes tells the truth as she was broken to be away from him. He smiled at her because he knows that once this was all over he was going to come back home, to her. With a kiss they shared he kissed her passionately her arms wrapping around him her heart pleads he stays but she knows he is needed by the king after all he is the prince. "I'll return to you one day again my love." Those were the last words he said because as years to decades to centuries passed he never returned to the sea. Only then, she waited for him to return by the place they first met on the rock she hid behind it waiting for him to come home. To her.

when I was a child I used to talk to the waves and I had an imaginary friend, who was a mermaid. I would visit her every family holiday - it didn’t matter where, because I knew she would always be there to meet me. This video just helped me heal from a hard year and made me reconnect with my inner child. Thank you Selena

I had a small plot for this when I heard it. Um... it is split cause it was too long, so sorry if you couldn't find the next one. There once was a siren who always comes to a village near the shore to sing and to lure prey in to devour them. One day when they were singing to lure another prey, they notice that a little boy had heard their song but wasn't hypnotized so they became a bit curious. They slowly swam to where the little boy was and sang again to confirm that it wasn't because of the distance that the boy couldn't hear the song. The boy looked at the siren with the most clear blue eyes the siren has ever seen and the siren knew then that the boy was probably special if he was not hypnotized by the siren song. The curiosity of the siren was piqued by this founding. "Why could you not hear my song?" The siren asked, the boy didn't answer. "Boy what are you..?" Still no answer. The siren was about to leave when they felt something pull at their arm, "I'm deaf...”. A clear but soft voice came behind them and the boy was staring at the siren with curious eyes, wondering what the siren was. "Deaf...? What is that?" the siren thought and was about to ask him when they remember that the boy probably couldn't hear him so they wrote on the sand " Does deaf mean you couldn't hear?" to which the boy nodded. The siren was shocked but a bit curious on what humans were like so they stayed with the boy for the day. "Well, I'm a mermaid so I am harmless to your village" the siren smiles as they lied through their teeth to the boy, they thought that they could lower the guard of the boy and kill him one day, but it never happened. The siren then came back the next day to find the boy staying where they last met and the boy was sharing new things to the siren, so they thought, "Maybe I'll come back some other day to kill him...." Soon the days turned to weeks, and weeks turned to months, the siren didn't kill the boy even though the thought crossed their mind multiple times. During the time that they were spending together, the siren slowly fell in love with the boy and wanted to bless the boy with the song to let him to be able to hear. But, during the encounters of the siren and the boy, the boy's parents noticed that he would go out in the afternoon and return in the evening so they followed him there. What they saw shocked them, their son was talking to a siren by the shore and close to the ocean. They went to back to the village to tell everyone the news and how to get rid of the siren, they thought it was a treat to the village. The next day, the siren was writing a song down for the boy and softly humming a small tune but not too loud to hypnotize any surrounding people. The siren was ecstatic for the boy to get his hearing so they could hear the song that they wrote for him the wish came true but, this is a story that doesn't have a happy ending. While the siren was writing the song, the villagers came out with weapons and started to hit and slash at the siren, the siren that was besieged by the attack was about to use their voice to kill the people when they remember that the boy might be nearby and if he sees that all the villagers fall down dead with them in the middle, he will hate them so they decided to keep their mouth shut, keep the song sheet safe and away from their blood and endure the attack. "Why isn't it attacking back..?" "Hell if I know but this thing is a devil in disguise! We have to kill it to keep the village safe!" Some villagers were having doubts and were forced out of the crowd to stand and watch as the others continue to attack the siren. To be continued under this.

Ok guys, I gotta write a POV. Never done this before on yt, but here goes. The moon was high, obscured by nothing. Its light hit the rippling water, like pearls sprinkled on the surface of the sea. The reflected lights hit your white garments, decorating them with the movement of the waves. You gazed down from the edge of your boat, following your reflection as the sea swelled. The swells felt like a rhythm... a sad one. Before you knew what was happening, you felt something cloud your vision. They were tears. They rolled down your cheeks slowly, eventually traveling down to your chin, and from there, they fell into the tides. The emotions you felt prevented you from being able to even wipe your tears. You looked up at the moon, wondering how something so cold and distant could be so beautiful. But then you heard a voice to match that sad rythm from before. You dropped your gaze to your reflection again. Only, this time, you didn't see your own face. You saw the face of possibly the most beautiful woman-- no, creature-- you had ever seen. Her skin was a pale, pale blue, like the light of the stars was trapped within her. Her hair flowed around her like kelp. But her eyes. Her eyes were as deep a blue as the sea around you, almost pulling you in, as a powerful whirlpool would. She whispered something, but you couldn't hear her, for the lapping of the water against the hull of your boat was too fierce. She beckoned for you to come closer, and you did, your upper half over the edge. She held her hand up to you. Her fingers, long and elegant, were adorned with rings of silver. "Come," she said. Her voice felt to your ears as rain would feel to a desert. Forgetting the warnings you had heard about these creatures-- sirens, they were called-- you placed your hand in hers. As you did this, you felt a chill you had never experienced before. You became unable to move. Soon, you heard a splash, and realized you had been pulled into the sea. The cold enveloped you, and your vision began to fade. You felt the siren's hands cup your face. She drew closer to you, until finally, her lips met yours. You felt a warmth spread from her mouth to yours, almost like the breath of life... Or was it the breath of death? ~ How was that? First POV ever, so... tell me how I did?

"Philip, I can save you—You need only ask." "I seek but one thing." "What is it?" "Forgiveness. If not for me, you would've never been captured." "Ask." "...Forgive me." She kisses him, for when you kiss a mermaid, you shall not drown. Grabbing on to his hair and nape, she drags him underwater. Their fates are unknown, even today.
