She’s got so many stories in her head. It doesn’t hurt that she’s working with a Scorsese cinematographer. Her mind is incredible!!!

Ethan Hawke and Josh Charles, the doctors were in the 1989 movie Dead Poets society. She also directed this video but hired an Oscar nominated cinematographer. He worked on Killers of the Flower Moon. Barbie. Brokeback Mountain. Babel and wolf of Wall Street.

The black dog walking across the bottom of the scene is also the name of another track on the album and what Churchill called depression.

I loved seeing you come in blind to the background of the song and story and still grasp it better than most others. This was definitely one of the more subdued ones she’s done but would love to see your take on the other videos she’s directed.

I saw another commenter point out that he's reviewing the readouts and he sees that she still remembers him and loves him despite all the "cures" to forget him, that's why he saves her. Whether or not that is the intention is up for interpretation, but I liked that explanation.

This is THE BEST interpretation of this video so far, and it's insane how on spot you are even being someone who knows nothing about her history. My heart heart was RACING with every point you made. It all aligns PERFECT with the rest of the album. Incredible! I hope you'll react to her next videos as they come out as well.

I’ve watched quite a few videos about Fortnight and yours is by far the most insightful. I think that your impression of them as companions in pain, and him pulling the plug as symbolising that the “cure” is to face the pain and not numb it, makes the whole video come together for me in a way it didn’t before. I’m a little in awe of how quickly you got to the heart of it 🙂Plus I liked learning about the cinematic references as well.

Great review! One of the best understandings of the images, lyrics and feelings of the song (and I've seen a LOT of videos reacting to this MV)

She takes the forget him pill so she can handle being able to work in the same room with him. Her black dress resembles an old mourning gown from the 1830’s, which she references in another song. Also she has actors from the dead poets society playing the doctors which is amazing.

Amazing analysis! You should do more Taylor swift videos. As you are not a big fan of hers and you don’t know her usual symbolism so you bring very interesting interpretations! Great job! 😊😌✌️

2:40 she can walk normally and the nurse walks upside-down, It means they have a completely opposite mindset (whatever they think is right for her is exactly opposite to what Taylor wants ) Summary: post malone what's to make taylor as he wanted, she knows it's not right but she loves him so much that she scarified herself

Thank you. Your analysis of the exact early films and relationship to the cinematography added so much to her song & video story. I love the early silent powerful films. Cheers

I loved this SOOOOOO much!!!! I am a massive Taylor fan since her debut album. It’s so cool to hear people who are knowledgeable in visual media and don’t know all the lore and Easter eggs dissect her videos with a clear mind. You gave me more insight to what she was portraying with your observations! Thank you!
