I am Chinese Indonesian and I live in Indonesia. I have a Lithuanian friend. We met at the gym. He started the chat when we were in the same jacuzzi. I asked him a very basic question "Where are you from ?". He replied "Europe". Then I asked him again "Which country ?". Then he replied "I will show you on the map later".
I didn't know why he won't tell right away. but then I realized that Lithuanians often have to explain where Lithuania is. Because the majority of people in the world don't know where it is.
I think he is tired of hearing "Lithu... what ?"

Great video, Jacob. I'm 65 and American. My mom was born in Šilute in 1931. When Germany invaded in 1940, my grandfather was hearing stories about exiles to Siberia. The family used my grandmother's German citizenship to re-enter Germany, and after WWII, the family came to the US. I've never visited Mom's homeland and speak only a few words of Lithuanian, so thank you for this video telling me about Lithuania as it is today. Dievas palaimina Lietuvą!

My Grandfather and Step Grandma were from Lithuania. The food and culture are amazing. We belong to the Lithuanian club here in East Cleveland, Ohio, United States. It's an old club, but we have the amazing Napolianas Torte and dang near every dish made from potatoes. I love the culture and I hope to one day visit the country that in turn, created me.
