Definitely on-board with that dude splitting the bill on the first date. It's a nice gesture to pay for the first date and not split. Nowadays, with the push for equality that there is all the time, it only seems right to split it when you both aren't committed to each other yet. He literally isn't obligated to pay everything, especially if she was like Oyster Girl and got stuff that wasn't agreed upon prior.
