This interactive way of presenting a course on editing begins to feel almost like a 1 on 1 tuition experience. I think it's a great idea.
Definitely something that would attract me. I will be checking it out even though I have no hopes of being a film editor, I think the process would help me with my projects.
Unfortunately, I have missed most of this week's events due to the fact that it coincides with the world cup transmission here in my part of Europe and a construction crew has just moved into our remote area and sucked our internet connection dry. I already hated football. Oh well.

4:03 sven i really like how your voiceover says 'these things come naturally to him' as you cut to him dismissively casting aside his kn95 mask. that was unexpected!

Hi Sven, I just watched the youtube video by 'the editing podcast' and wanted to get in touch, I was wondering if there was anywhere to watch the videos you talked about, the ones they opened up the editing bay at 09:00?

Just to show my gratitude for your videos, I put myself to the test. I tried my best to follow instructions and plan out the story of my video. Normally I would make a paper mache collage of events I thought were cool to record. The best result I ever had was a completed jigsaw puzzle where it looked like someone hammered in the last pieces, if not most of them.
Well, it took me four weeks to work through this exercise and produce 12 minutes of @worstvideos . I split the 12 minutes into two parts as an act of compassion for the kind poor souls that would attempt to sit through my disaterpiece in one nauseating session.
It was far more difficult than I imagined, yet it made sense. I noticed that knowing what elements need to be filmed to make a story flow helped save time. Loads of benefits for me......and great fun being challenged.
tHanks again for all your videos and insight.
I've learned enough that I can confidently also give advice.......
"After seeing how I do things.....To obtain success and reach goals.....do exactly the opposite".

It's all great if you have all those important moments captured. Otherwise you have nothing to edit. Which means that before you even start shooting, you have to know what's important to the story, and have the actors act it out, because if it's not filmed, your whole story about editing is hollow.

Thank you for sharing your insights and work! Your lighting/color is always amazing. I often rewind to see those scenes to try to figure out how you do it.
Great flow and edits as always!
Newbie question for you @this_guy_edits (or anyone) is it “line script”? Or “lince”. I think it was a typo but not sure. (7:00)
Thanks again for your content. YT pushed you off my feed the last few years. Good to see it again.

Am carrying a question with me for 7 years of my premiere pro usage. That "Should I switche to Avid Media Composer or not?"
Switching my editor is a big task for me as a rookie. With premiere pro, I know evey corner of it and even every damn unnecessary settings of it.
So, when I tried Media Composer, reality slapped me on my face hard. So, is it worth my time to learn it? What is the future of Premiere Pro?
I have so many questions. Please aid me with your opinions.

To me the best way to learn editing is to watch the editing in movies and really pay attention to what's going on. I've been doing medical animation for 20 years and a lot of the times I end up editing the project myself. I can honestly say I never really paid attention to what I was doing until the last few years. Where and what you cut can have such a huge impact on the flow of the story or the feeling that it invokes in the viewer. School is great, but you can learn a lot by just paying attention to the content that you're watching.
