I imagine the reason Ganon didn't just kill Tetra is because he very likely couldn't. The King wished for the kids to have hope, for the land of Hyrule to be washed away and as I recall, for Ganon to drown with it. With this in mind, the second the wish was granted, Ganon's fate was sealed, there was no way he could win now as the divine power of the goddesses that created existence has decreed that Link and Tetra will have hope for the future, which can't really happen if they are slain. I like to imagine Ganon realized this, realized he lost utterly and completely and he can't get out of this, so the final fight was him choosing to go out fighting rather than simply sit there and drown. That's why he doesn't try to kill Tetra, he knows he can't but he can still physically harm her in retaliation for all the light arrow strikes.
I think that makes the final fight darker, its not a final battle, its putting down a man who has literally nothing left, not even the chance of victory as the Triforce wish ensures you will win. Ganon is dying at that moment, either through drowning or death in combat, he chose the latter, being defiant to the bitter end even knowing that he's already lost and is as good as dead.
As for the Command Melody, its been a while since I played WW but I recall at least Medli suggesting Link guide her with the Wind Waker so I assume its more like mentally guiding their actions as opposed to full blown mind and body control. I also recall that both her and Makar are aware that Link can do this as she suggests it and I think the King of Red Lions also tells Link to use the Command Melody to help guide Makar before you start his dungeon. I could be wrong or misremembering but I swear I remember Medli suggesting Link use the Wind Waker to guide her, not control her and TKoRL suggesting Link use the Melody when talking to him and Makar so its not like they aren't aware that he can do this and are unconsenting. The mind control pears though, can't really sugar coat that, Link is mind controlling innocent animals and putting them into dangerous situations. Even if you don't have the seagull get caught in the bomb explosions, you are still making it light a bomb and making it fly near deadly bird monsters that want to kill it so that is kind of dark for Link. XD

The final fight with Ganondorf is my favorite final boss in the series. In this timeline, the cycle ended. Hyrule, the Triforce, the struggle is over. But Ganondorf has nothing to live for. He sacrificed everything to achieve the happiness and peace of Hyrule's winds he felt he had earned. And it was washed away in an instant by an old enemy, an island kid and a pirate. So all he wants is to kill Link, Tetra and anyone who would dare try and live in a world without him.

I had a lot of good memories with the tingle tuner. At the time I didn't really play games, but instead watched my brother play which I actually liked. I got to read the story without all the difficult gameplay. A game like wind waker was very daunting for me.
At the time I did have a Game Boy Advance and a third party link cable. We used to play together all the time. It was actually really cool, I mostly just threw bombs and wasted our rupees.š

When I was a kid, I was TERRIFIED of the Giant Squids in the ocean. I remember one time I managed to get encounter one while sailing from Dragon Roost Island to the island where the Deku Tree is, and it actually spit me back near Outset Island. So, even though typically the King of Red Lions prevents you from going there at that part of the game, I ended up staying on Outset Island for a couple weeks because I was so afraid of encountering a Giant Squid again.
Honestly, even to this day as a 27-year-old, those enemies till freak me out. The theme, the trapped scenario of being in the whirlpool, all the eyes... Wind Waker may be known for its cartoonish design, but the art direction is so solid, especially in the enemies. I think this is my least favorite Zelda game to replay, mostly because the loneliness of the ocean unsettles me sometimes.

The great fairy queen is a misunderstanding from western audiences. Itās not uncommon for gods and deities to be depicted as children in eastern culture, also resembling the inner child. She is benevolent and helping link through the fairies, you could see it as an innocent yet wise and powerful child who is playing, symbolising how itās a play of the gods and deities, itās not done from the same intend as adults do with their own agendas and motives, which I felt like is the reason she only appeared in this game when link is a child and more pure as well. So only to him she is revealed if you will, which is quite an honour.
Sheās young yet wise and timeless. Which makes the form they chose for her perfect.
Itās only in the west where the highest beings are usually depicted as adults, in which in the west they think wisdom comes from old age and knowledge. Which in eastern culture has more expanded ways of thinking about it, including the timeless wisdom that isnāt bound to age.
Itās not meant in a creepy way at all how you talk about the toy š
Itās incredible how she just transformed the toy in actual real life fairies, which sets her apart from the other ones being the queen. Which also isnāt very uncommon in eastern culture, the ability to create a life form from an inanimate object, itās alchemy that she is performing in one of the highest forms, thatās very remarkable. Itās common to first create a for, thatās supposed to resemble the thing one then wants to create or breathe life into. So really witnessing her bringing fairies into the world with such effortlessness and ease really proves her place as queen.
