POV The darkness engulfed her body, as her frantic breath was the only noise resounding through the century old trees in the forest. Her trembling hands lifted her once pristine dress, the excess material seemingly weighing her down. She left a trail of lace and tulle behind as the delicate materials were caught in the thorns of some bushes. With the moon reigning on the dark sky above her, she found her way forward. They would not catch her, ever. She would sooner die than be wed to that repulsive, dishonorable man. Because other than his wealth, lands and titles, he had nothing. He did, however, think that he had almost anything. She was the only piece left in order to complete the picture. For him, marrying the beautiful daughter of your once sworn enemies had some twisted, poetic feel to it. She felt a fire spread through her entire body; the already familiar rage enveloped her whenever thoughts of her family swirled inside her mind. In order to preserve their social position, her parents saw fit to arrange her marriage to “a respected bachelor”. When she had first heard of their wish, she did not worry too much. She was a cunning and persuasive woman, after all, so she thought that she could sway them without too much of an effort. But her plans crashed at her feet when she found out who her betrothed was. Lord Doran – a sly, vile man, responsible for her family’s fall from grace. When it came to the status her marriage to him would give them, however, her family seemed to suddenly forget who he was. Their desperation and hypocrisy angered her immensely. Seeing as they were always the ones to tell her to never settle down when she still had some fight left in her, the irony of the situation would have been somewhat amusing, had it not been her freedom on the line. But just like they had taught her, she would not back down. After all, she still had some fight left in her. As the heavy dress slowed her down too much for her taste, she stopped running for a moment, even though she could hear the hounds in the distance. They were getting closer by the minute. Reaching for the dagger hidden in the garter around her thigh, she started slashing furiously at the material pooling around her waist. It only took a few long, rapid strokes for the lace to fall at her feet; she was left with nothing but a delicate layer of material covering her slender body. She smiled slightly as she almost heard him say that she was too familiar with the dagger. “Soon”, she thought as she started running again. Distracted by her thoughts, she did not notice the absence of the moon; the sky was clouded and she felt a droplet of water fall onto her skin. Before she even had time to react, the heavy storm came down. The violent rain surrounded her, making it difficult to see. But that would not stop her, as she knew the way to the old castle like the back of her hand, for she had traveled that road many times before. Being a noble and having a commoner lover, meeting in secrecy was nothing new to her. Her mind flooded with images of his green eyes, the thoughts consuming her so much that she forgot the reason she was running away. Still, a surge of panic coursed through her veins when, apart from the hounds, she heard voices in the distance. Many voices, all belonging to numerous men. She ran faster, as fast as her legs could carry her, gritting her teeth. Her body was on fire, but she could not stop. Her lungs soon protested, seemingly refusing to cooperate with her in her quest to escape, once and for all. “Not now, not now.”, she whispered continuously. However, she breathed a sigh of relief when she saw the old, imposing castle appear a short distance from her. She stopped in her tracks, unable to think of anything else but how close she was to her freedom. She started running again, not stopping until she found herself wandering the dark hallways of the castle. Everywhere she looked, she saw images of him, of her, of them. She could almost feel his green eyes watching her, burning each inch of skin they were set on. Making her way through the abandoned castle, she closed her eyes, fingers grazing the antique walls. She thought of the men hunting her and how grateful she was for the storm, as it would cover her tracks. Sighing deeply, she made her way through the hallways, in search of the grand, old library. A few moments passed before she opened the heavy mahogany doors, a sinister creak filling the air. But just before she stepped into the library, she heard a noise behind her. It was so soft, she almost missed it. Almost. Regaining her composure rapidly, she entered the huge room, filled to the brim with books. If someone was indeed already there, the library, with all its aisles, would give her an advantage. She walked through the chamber with confidence, careful to not give away the fact that she was aware of the stranger’s presence. As she stepped further and further into the library, the creak of the door was heard again. Her hands curled into fists; she slipped behind a huge bookcase, waiting. She heard the stranger’s faint steps retrace hers, so that could only mean they were coming after her. She listened attentively, hand reaching under her dress, for the dagger strapped to her right thigh. The sound of heavy boots against the floor was unmistakable. It was a man, then. And he was getting closer and closer to her, until his steps could not be heard anymore. She knew that it was because he had reached her hiding spot, waiting on the other side. She clutched her dagger between slender fingers, coming out of her hiding place, ready to confront the stranger. Ready to kill him, even. She moved as fast as a lightning bolt that hits the ground, coming face to face with the man; a dark hood hid his face and she gritted her teeth. “Reveal yourself.”, she spoke, a determined edge in her voice. She was in front of him, her weapon pointed at his neck. And then, he took off the black hood. “You’re as familiar as ever with that dagger, my love.” When she heard that voice she loved so much, everything seemed to come to a stop around her. Freedom was now palpable.

POV: I read the POVs, and my heart grows heavier as i scroll. It seems like something is pulling my heartstrings. Hard; but not enough to let it rip. "They just make stories, it's not real." But; How do they know, that someone like me, would read the stories of my life written by those who can only imagine?

The wedding was jovial, but the knight knew something was terribly wrong with the princess. He met eyes with her once, as she walked past him in the dining hall. She had darling black eyes and round, rosy cheeks; it was no wonder the foreign prince had clamored to make her his wife. The knight knew the princess, however. He had been training to protect her since he was strong enough the pick up a sword. The princess had a strong spirit, and would, under normal circumstances, have never approved of him. Her smiles created no wrinkles in her eyes- a mask. The knight knew the feeling all too well. He wanted to extend a gloved hand to her, to pull her out of this golden cage. Yet, he was a puppet to the monarchy, and all he could do was be dragged by strings and watch. He thought about the wedding all throughout the night, as he patrolled the halls. Another knight had fallen ill, leaving an empty spot in the night guard that he was made to fill. What an annoyance. The knight snapped out of his thoughts as he realized which hall he was in- the room where the newlyweds were to reside for the night laid a mere ten feet in front of him. He approached the door, subconsciously lightening the sound of his footsteps. The strange feeling he had felt at the ceremony returned, bringing a new friend with it- subtle dread. The knight wanted to pry open the door and check on the two of them, but wouldn’t that be strange? He had no reason to, anyways. What reason would “a strange feeling” be to his superiors? A poor one. He sighed, and turned to leave, when he spotted the strangest shine on the ground. He blinked, to make sure the dim castle lighting wasn’t deceiving him, and then kneeled to the ground just to be sure. The knight’s heart twisted viciously- what reason is a pool of blood emerging from beneath the newlywed’s door? His breath began to unsteady as he quickly shot up and grabbed the door handle, forcing it open. His main concern was for the princess, and figured she was in grave danger if not already harmed, but he was quickly disproven when the only corpse on the floor belonged to the husband. He silently gasped, and his golden ones shot up, his gaze being greeted with the silhouette of the princess in front of the open window, holding a dripping dagger. She was balanced on the windowsill, and judging by her pose, was about to climb out of it before being interrupted. Quickly, she hopped back onto the ground and began walking towards the knight, dagger pointed directly at his chest. Her hair was loose, and she wore only her white nightgown, now stained red. “You’re running away?” the knight’s voice was a little too breathless, a little too pathetic-sounding for his taste. “You’re going to stop me?” she asked, daring the knight to try. She walked right up to him and put the blade up against the skin of his throat. He let her get that close. He was stunned. “I’m going to climb down from that window and I’m going to make my leave and if you breathe a word of this to anyone else and I am dragged back here, I will personally have your head. I’ll rip it off with my own two hands. Do I make myself clear?” When the knight didn’t respond, the princess leaned in a little closer, grip tightening on the dagger. “Do. I. Make. Myself. Clear?” The knight blinked, then spoke again. “Y-you can’t leave.” The princess narrowed her eyes in anger, but the knight continued. “Not that way.” “...excuse me?” “If you’re planning to escape through the garden, you’ll get caught. There’s guards positioned there tonight.” The princess stared at the knight with a look of strange mixed emotions, then slowly lowered her dagger. “You... you’re actively helping me.” “Isn’t my role as a knight to protect you?” The two of them stood in silence for a moment before the knight stepped back, towards the door. “I know a shortcut out of the castle. I use it all the time when I need a breath of fresh air. It’s much more secure than your plan.” “How am I supposed to trust you?” “Well, it’s your choice. You can make decisions on your own.” The knight eyed the corpse as he said that. He then looked up at the princess, and extended his hand. “But I’m hoping you’ll find it in your heart to come with me. I’ll take you somewhere safe.”

She ran as fast as her legs would take her. She wasn’t giving up her freedom, not yet not ever. She could hear the branches breaking, the bushes and leaves rustling as they drew ever closer. Her heart pounded and her body hurt and her brain was a mess, but she never stopped running. She didn’t know where she was going, but she knew she needed to go. She felt sick to the stomach, she could feel the ever growing and branching out fear. She kept running and running, and she felt like she could shut down any minute, but then, she came to a stop. In front of her was a lake. The water sparkled under moonlight, and if she had the time to she would’ve loved to stay and admire the beautiful sight before her. But she needed to go, and there was no more land for her to tread on. So without another thought, she jumped in. She could no longer hear the noise of the night nor those who sought to capture her. She wouldn’t dare open her eyes. She couldn’t see, couldn’t hear, and she felt as if she could not move, she thrashed around but despite her efforts she was stuck in place. Her fear was back. ‘They’re going to get me, I need to move!’ Everything fell still, and she could hear a soft noise, it sounded close, very close. It grew louder, and she realized that it was a song. ‘What?’ Before she could put anymore thought into it, she heard something jump into the lake with her, and she could feel the water moving around her. ‘They’re here, I need to go. Now.’ But she still couldn’t move. What was worse is that she needed to go up for air. Suddenly she felt the water shift beside her, as if something had slithered past, towards whoever had went in after her. Her spine shivered and all of a sudden she went cold. The sounds of muffled screams and struggling paired with the water shifting with this struggling terrified her. She could almost smell the blood in the water. She quickly opened her eyes, around her floated crimson. Others jumped in and they had been torn apart as well from what she had heard. She wouldn’t dare turn around, but she couldn’t move away either. Her vision started to go blurry and a strange sense of calm washed over her. She could hear the song again, and before she knew it she was asleep. I tried my best with this ( ̄∇ ̄) and yes, I do know I’m late.

the sound of you heels touching the ground floor of the abandoned castle your mother told you about is nothing but a loud thumping. tears flow down your cheeks, wishing every second for comfort and love. Eric? he's nothing but a lie. Nobody sees it, nobody seems to care. He never loves you you are just his getaway to be the next crowned king. all the abusive actions he used against you, you can't take it anymore. Running as the best options-- 8:40 you stop as the sound of a beautiful violin plays... 'who would that be? in this abandoned castle? Mother never told me about it. Why didn't you tell me before you leave me mother?' you stand up, your white wedding dress is torn down. mud covering half of your dress.. the flowers on you hair are still there. you walk up the grand stairs. every moment the violin plays, you feel calm.. forgetting about the troubles you are in. The castle are indeed beautiful. even though it looks ruined. the sunlight entering the big window...the rain, the air, the nature. as you enter the big hall you saw a man. playing the violin. he plays it very well.. most of all, he plays it with his heart. you can't help but stare. the man stop playing. he turn around. his brown/blonde hair, his innocent blue/green eyes. "hello, y/n. I've been waiting for you.."

She fled from a life of luxury. Of unearned praise. Of regret. She knew when they entered her bedchambers in the morning, they would find little explanation for her vacant bed. As she ran, she wondered if they would ever notice the single missing ball gown, or the hollow board in the floor where she had buried the letters from a love she would never be allowed to have. She fled from a jealous suitor, from fĂŞtes and fortunes, from the demands of her former life. Her former life. She liked the sound of that. As the abandoned castle loomed before her, a dark and broken shape overgrown with ivy and briars, she fled.

POV: I could not yet understand what was happening. My mind ran with confusion as my feet ran quicker, racing my thoughts. I thought of how life was, how different I perceived it as a child. I could not wait for my prince charming to swoop me off my feet, hold me tight, love me... Running with my dress in hand, I pass by a huge castle. A beautiful one with six towers dominate the skyline of this massive castle and are connected by huge, narrow walls made of white marble. The castle had beautiful greenery, even more, beautiful than the ones in Copernia, surrounding it. The sound of the guards faded and I quickly gave into the beautiful meadow before me. There was a huge metal gate with no guards protecting it. There were no enormous statues of the kings before us. There was only blooming sunshine when you walk in, it was as if everything on the outside had disappeared. The castle was the safest most dangerous place I have encountered. I feel like the young me here. The girl who had dreams filled with hope and love. The girl who wished to wed. The girl who stood by her bedroom window every night. Talking to the stars. Maybe I could talk to the stars here. I explore and dive deeper into the meadow as I encounter the huge building. The marble walls gave it a heaven effect. It was majestic and terrifying. Perfect and horrible. I run my hands on the walls. As expected, they are softer than the Queen’s blanket. As I take a step forward inside, I am yet but aghast. A grand staircase filled the room with beauty. This castle… It has somehow affected me. It drew me in like a needle in a haystack. I take a few steps closer and examine the walls. There was beautifully detailed art pained everywhere. The meadow did not end outside for there were stunning plants decorated everywhere. I come closer and smell the flowers. Mesmerizing. I close my hands and take another breath in, never wanting the smell to leave my nose.

With my eyes closed, I felt a presence behind me. I may be a princess but I have learned and memorized the walking paces of people. I have learned the steps of one guides them everywhere. Evil and good. Suddenly, a husky voice echoes through the whole castle, “Beautiful, isn’t it?”

POV: There she was, running as fast as her fragile legs allowed her, with half of her dress torn and muddy The cause? A marriage that she would never accept For the moment no one had noticed her absence, since they never paid much attention to her, but she knew that at some point (perhaps the same day of the wedding), they would realize that she had fled She did not care For the moment, she was free For the moment, she could smell freedom without any compromise This is my first pov, I know it kinda sucks but I hope you enjoy!

When I was very young I heard those words "It's a deal" my father said At the time I didn't know what deal they were talking about But last month I found out I'll have to marry the prince That is the deal my dear father made That was when I realised I was just a piece on the game he was playing Just a way of getting more, and more power On the day of my marriage I stood there In my white dress I wanted to run away I wanted to just run I out of that place And run And run And run I wanted to run until my lungs burn Until my legs couldn't move anymore So I did that I started running "PRINCESS COME BACK" I heard But I kept running I run pass my father Confusion, and then fury taking over his eyes I hear his strong voice calling out the guards But I kept running I heard footsteps behind me And angry voices calling out my name But I kept running I run out of the castle and into the woods With my bare feet hurting And my white dress not so white anymore I run in the abandoned castle One of his side in ruins But the other completely intact I liked to wonder there sometimes It was peaceful I run to the farthest room And hide behind a big wardrobe I hold my breath And feel tears run down my face They call me out I remain there I let a sob out and the General finds me He was a clever men I always respected him "General, please!" I cry out "Princess, I cannot allow you to run away from your duties" he tells me I try to clean my face from the tears But they didn't want to stop coming "I just want to find true love. What's so wrong with that?" I whisper "Princess, give the Prince a chance" he tells me I shake my head no "I didn't want it to be by the hard way" he says He yells the guards They came They got me They dragged me back to the castle I was crying so much that I couldn't see I got married the next day I lost the small bit of freedom that I had Again I was just a piece in a game Just a piece

Glass Pane (A Poem) - Turning to the window; A spider dances, spinning her ligatures In the fallen sunlight. Oblivious to the spectrum of colour Thrown out from her labour Shrouding the window pane. Placing a hand on the cool glass; A crack groans inwardly Sharp intake of breath - The hand is removed to reveal A dark crimson Damsel... She waltzes toward long expired Sarcophagidae. The web is unbroken.

Her dress, a gown of midnight, pooled around her petite stature, burying . For no one saw her true nature . Heart pacing, mind hazing, what had she done? It swarmed each corner of her mind . The guilt, stained like crimson blood would not be banished from her psyche. She was now cold, bare feet tracing the icy floor. The palace looked all the more daunting at night, flooded with darkness. An ere of mystery set around the place, an omen of her sin. The knife, the image ingrained in her mind. She did it , was this the taste of freedom she had so longed for or the sickness of guilt. The price of freedom was indeed high. But was it worth it? She had struck a bargain with the night, she was free. For now. The rest lied with the fates, in their daunting power.

my hands are cold now they've been cold for hours wet stone against my back, drops of rain in my eyes I'm not crying, not for now probably havent realized what I've done yet what have I done ? ran, I guess ran as I always do  for he was so beautiful, the man I was offered to  his smile like a burning flame in a cold, cold face - my hands are matching it now - a cold face with black eyes that could've swallowed me whole do swallow me whole love, feed on my flesh and burn the rest but no I've ran, ran as I always do white drenched silk is spreading around me like petals of a dying flower I'm not crying, not yet I would be lying if I said there hadn't been a kind of joy to it, in being spun around like a pretty thing too delicate to touch, setting foot on a board where the game was clear and where I was the price, being desired, an object of beauty  taking comfort in being just that; an object, not having to keep on the hard and unrewarding labor of being human, person, girl letting go of everything, here now smile, bow, smile again, you look so pretty doing it, your skirt bristle around your ankles like a nervous butterfly and your gloves are made of silk so no one can actually feel the warmth of you hands, how alive they are, how you have a real body and a real mind  I saw his black eyes piercing through me as I've walked down the isle  empty of everything, I knew he didn't love me, I knew he didn't, his love is blond and fair and free of the burdening curves of femininity, his love can run free in the woods without anyone to shout for him to come back, come back, surrender to your nature let yourself be swallow by men  women I am with all the tenderness and violence of it women I am and I ran oh what do I always run away from ? is it you love ? is it from knowing you'll never care ?  you reserve your respect for the men, not the foreign, mundane minds of women  women are very silly things in all honesty, they are chatter that brighten a room until you find it annoying, they give sons to raise and daughters to decorate, they care about such vain, vain things, vain dolls made of flesh without a though into their head and what of me ? what to do now, how to exist ?  I don't know run run again, run some more, go into the woods and dissolve myself into the ancestral bodies of the trees, sleep in moss, sharpen my nails, burst your black eyes with them if you ever come looking for me, be a witch, be a frightening wild thing at the border of the world of men, drink the rain and let my voice echo into the silence of my own freedom I'm not crying, not yet but I don't think I ever will

A short story! (wlw edition) “You want freedom yes princess?” The witch stepped out from the shadows of the seemingly abandoned building, welcoming the girl who sought shelter. Of course startled by the others presence the princess backed away. “You...who are you?” “Just a person who happens to live here! Well, of course I’ll have to do some redecorating soon but you’re more than welcome to follow me. Afterall, you’re soaked...poor thing-“ The witch offered out her hand and the princess hesitantly took it and was suddenly led to the next room which was warm. A comfort the royal hadn’t felt even in her own home. Shelves of glass bottles lined the walls, additionally there was a small kitchen, along with what seemed like a pot...or cauldron. “Such a shame about your dress. Though I suppose I can’t blame you...” The princess grabbed the old cloak the witch handed her to dry off, giving off a small shiver. She had only just met this woman, but something made her want to stay forever. Something was just so mesmerizing, it made her feel more than what she ever felt for the prince. “Why are you helping me miss?” “Because you’re a lot like me...driven to run away from society because of something you can’t control.” The princess looked up at the witch, who now seemed to be sitting next to her. “Well...it doesn’t seem like I can go back to the wedding now.” the ex-bride started. “So, would you mind if I stayed here for a bit.” They both seemed to reach out, seeking the comfort of each other, and slowly interlacing their fingers together. “Of course dear-“
